Hijack sucks but sadly it’s stuck in the game; but the change to barricades making it so you can’t wrench them down makes it even worse. This was added to make hijack faster and so Xenos didn’t have to do another FOB siege.
If you don’t spend metal to make a handrail to keep the Cade still (which looks really silly) you’re stuck with useless metal just blocking people. Since that change nothing has really been said on the matter.
It’s hard to really hold a location with this weird change during hijack, but I can see the reason behind it. As a neutral change, I think it’d be a good idea to bring back solid Cades be placed on Almayer during hijack, but they require extra metal (you can call it “creating special bolts” or “adding supporting sheets” as the engineering step) and maybe it needs an extra wrench or welding step. That way people can still set up defenses, but it won’t be nearly as fast and will make it important to choose their location carefully.
