I think people are often miffed when they are looted after death, and sometimes its from ignorance due to not knowing if the person is revivable or not, or sometimes it is known and a little nudge towards good faith IC behavior could prevent revivable people from being looted.
I suggest that when trying to strip a weapon, belt/pouch/bag/etc from a person of the same faction within the default perma timer (I think 5 minutes?) a small gui pop up would say “Your comrade’s body is still warm, they might be revivable by the medics, are you sure you want to loot their body?” with a yes/no prompt.
The prompt wouldn’t prevent people from looting bodies, but it could be logged so that a person who regularly loots fresh and revivable dead can be flagged as a problem, and help inform new players as to battlefield ettiquette. The prompt shouldn’t be used as an OOC way to find out if someone is perma or not without a medhud, and wouldn’t reflect their actual perma timer beyond the default.
Lastly, since lag, gui problems, and emergencies are all a thing, the prompt should not interact at all with the stripping of bodies, so that you can fully ignore it or not need to have it appear for looting to be functional.
If there’s a graceful way to do this, fine, but it’s absolutely going to be used that way, even if unintentionally.
As it is, unfortunately, it’s kind of just an IC issue and I think overall you’re going to have a hard time convincing anyone that it’s anything but that; If someone is looting people on the ground continuously, at best, you might have grounds for a ‘don’t be a dick’ report.
Sometimes, you lose your gun if you go down without a magharn. It’s part of the experience, IMO.
This isn’t as big of a concern as you think it is. You can already check if someone is revivable by right clicking them and pressing ‘Check Status’ while adjacent to them. The only real caveat being that checking someone that’s heartbroken in this way will give you the same message as if they’re permanently dead.
Removing armour == removing weapon, and if you make that flaggable then regular PFCs who strip armour for medics will get assfucked.
Vast majority of the time people ‘steal’ weapons from picking up guns off the ground, rather than actually stripping them off dead people directly. In many cases guns are literally just blown up or melted instead of stolen, though half the PFCs don’t seem to understand that.
I’m of the opinion that this is an IC issue as well. I don’t see any method that would auto-flag people for stripping stuff as viable, because you really only ‘need’ to steal guns like 1-2 times a round, whereas good faith players would be stripping far more often.
I would support this if there’s an exception made for stripping armor because it will get slightly annoying for people who are reviving (or helping with that) otherwise. That being said it doesn’t feel like a problem that comes up much at all.
