CM lore is they made some giant technological leap due to a disaster or something.
Mainline lore is that the predators were enslaved by a more technologically advanced alien race, who then got weak and lazy and the predators rose up and killed or enslaved all the advanced aliens and took their tech for themselves, which is why the Predators are the way they are.
As for the preds, if you watched predator 2 you’ll remember OWLF is writing off all the murders as “gang violence” and such, OWLF is dedicated to keeping this stuff a secret, why they decide to do this even in the year 2180 when the arcturians are known to exist is anyone’s guess.
Why do preds consider xeno the ultimate prey and humans as hardly worth fighting. Kind of seems that the species with access to things like HEPA rounds and nuclear warheads would be more deadly. I mean xenos are deadly but at most all they can do is claw or spit at you.
I’d say it’s a mix of humans being weaker physically then both predators and xenomorphs, and still being technologically inferior, sure humans have assault rifles with HEAP, but predators have plasma guns that make human XM99’s and PIG’s look like toys.
combine this with the fact humans never win via raw physical strength and instead win by using cunning tactics and such it makes them seem weak compared to the xenomorphs who can match the predator and are relatively intelligent (queen is able to use the elevator in aliens).
also humans aren’t actually considered not worthy, otherwise they wouldn’t kidnap people and use them for games, or visit the planet constantly, humans are a mixed bag when it comes to prey, sometimes it’s a worthy opponent (who they kill and take their skull) or it’s just some Green Beret who they’ll just skin (the guy in the first film)
Because preds hunt individuals, or small groups and not whole nations. Your HEAP round is worth as much as your eyes and ears picking up cloaked pred and actually shooting it.
And that is enough to beat a pred “IRL”. No “simple” hunter wears full body armor, so few of simple 9mm would be enough to cripple said pred, having HEAP, or nuclear warhead means nothing.
And if we go with extended lore then xenos have some kind of pseudoscience psychic bullshit too.
Then the Engineers would be actually “the ultimate pray”. That, or Fulfremmen.
In CM gameplay terms they do. In “IRL” you gotta have your eyes glued to that Motion Detector and you don’t even know it is below, or above you as seen in Aliens. Then you have to aim your silly watergun and splash said pred, when you could just do as well with regular gun and kill it.
But how often preds let you know you are being hunted, so that you prepare?
What do xenso psychic powers do. I know they use it to communicate to each other and sometimes people. But is that all they can do whats the actual lore for it. Does it have any weaknesses. Do other engi creations have psychic powers or just xenos.
This is very helpfull as quick guide. I recall seeing this a while ago in a diffrenet thread. Gave me the idea of cloneing xeno nurons to make psychic organic computer.
So how does the internet work in CM. Is it like cyberpunk were it’s all based on dial up or something. Computers exist and obviously they can send data to each other.
Computers in the aliens universe seem to mainly run off a local intranet, most of these intranet’s are by LM-Link as seen in alien isolation.
additionally in aliens ripley is shown making a video call to burke via a punch card thing, implying that video calls can also be made on these intranet computers
and then you watch prometheus and it has an actual proper internet type video call.
Where in the timeline does CM13 take place? How widespread is the Xeno threat/known to the greater public? Same question for both CM13 and greater canon, honestly— I know the threat reaches Earth eventually somehow in the comics, when and how does that happen?
