I removed the sleeves from M3-L armor, then put the brown pouches from M4 armor. I call it M4-L Pattern Armor.
It has the same utility as the M4, having brighter lights and 3 slots instead of 2, but has the same stats as the M3-L such as -5 melee armor, -5 bullet armor, and -0.20 slowdown. -LCpl and higher- or marines that have M4’s in their marine equipment rack can get M4-L’s for the same cost. The M4’s price and availability vary between roles. Whether or not the M4-L should share more of the M4’s stats is up for debate.
I like the sprite.
Its a nice looking sprite but I am fairly certain they do not want rank/time played locked items in the game maybe have it as a 3rd armor option for RFN?
yeah I don’t like how it’s timelocked, given it’s a straight up buff over the M3L it’s kind of a no brainer for anyone running light (just means asking for more stuff at req) anyways
If it was bought with points instead of being rank locked that would be reasonable.
I forgot RFN could be LCpl’s too.
Is 20 points for an extra inventory slot worth it?
Would extra armor (similar to m3 armor?) or extra flashlight range be needed to make it worthwhile>
+1 slot for a magazine in armor is a lot
m4 armor gets an extra slot compared to m3 armor, in addition to better lighting and higher bio armor for 20 points.
You could also throw in a bit of melee armor in return for being 25 points or something. (So all the premium armors have unique point costs.)
You’re absolutely right. I overlooked the M4’s higher bio resistance. Also M4 prices vary between roles. FTL’s have it for free atm while SL’s get it for 16 points.
So it is just better light armor available for PFCs for their vendor points (which aren’t worth spending on anything else but armor anyway)? A needless buff to marines.
Just as the M3-L is the light counterpart to the M3,
the M4-L is the also the light counterpart to the M4.
the difference is that light armor is generally considered a significant upgrade over medium armor.
So if you upgrade light armor you have even less reason to take medium or heavy armor.
It depends. I always thought the tradeoffs between the M3 and M3-L were a preference between players who survive longer with tougher amror, and those who survive longer by moving faster.
Read all of those armor topics, or atleast the most recent one:
Make sure to post the ones on the old Forums and the old old forums for good measure.
Intel Officer could use an M4-L armor honestly.
The base M3 armour is ass, the real dilemma is between M3-L and M4 + B12, which are still ‘medium’.
honestly i like new armors, but I don’t really like them being straight upgrades to each other. Make it a sidegrade with an interesting downside
Medium armor speed and light armor melee and internal protection, but this extends to hands, feet and head. Only one storage slot, or none at all. Cannot have longarms in suit storage slot. Ta-Daa.
