I think it’s a bit odd that a very strong strategy to recover a dead marine, is to use a multitude of grenades to push them to your own lines.
Maybe a solution to this, would be to make it so explosions reduce the time until a marine is perma. While this doesn’t forbid people form using bombs to knock corpses around, it at least penalizes it in some way.
I like the idea of reducing timer. It’s possible. I think killing yourself should also reduce the timer.
But for explosions I am not really sure. It’s too easy to softgrief people this way, on accident too. Imagine GL just using his launcher to kill xenos, but your corpse just happened to be there. And you go perma because of that. You gotta hate GL really bad for that.
would kinda just make cas/ob/gl feel horrible to use. definitely a problem but this isnt the right way to go about it. would be better to just prevent explosions from moving bodies, move them less, or require a higher explosion potency to move them
Here is the thing… you are acting like this some how a bad thing. Fact is that CM13 is game first before anything else, so striping out the gameplay purely from Lore/realism POV is a rather poor argument. Now i know that was not the point you were making but bare with me as cover all my bases.
Second thing it not as powerful as make it out to be, using nades gain back a body comes at the opportunity cost of no longer being able to target xenos. you are essentially are trading finite killing power in exchange for a body.
Keep in mind that most the time you need to spend at least 2( at least most the time, yes sometimes you can get away with just one.) upwards to 3 Nades to get a body back. What’s more if make a bad throw you risk pushing the body farther into the xeno line.
Third It doesn’t come free on the body as well the body still takes damage from the nades and can and will give the bodys organ damage or fracs. You have to keep in mind that Fracs happen to limb after it hits a damage threshold… which if you have dead body that means they have so much damage stacked on there body.
The only reason the fracs on nadeing bodies is even tolerable is that fact that laying down increases EXP resistance.
Forth Nadeing bodies is one of the few counters to Queen/warrior camping bodies.
Now that all being said what i could say would be reasonable is slightly lower how far a body can be thrown.
I’m against this. It doesn’t seem like a very intuitive mechanic for anyone.
I get that using HEDP grenades to push marine corpses is unrealistic and a bit stupid, but I’d argue that damage (especially bonebreaks) is rather punishing for marines.
Just make that anything lying on the floor can be only moved by one tile by singular weak explosion. Fixed. Now waste 3-4 nades to move the corpse any significant distance.
it takes only 2 seconds, I buffed the time for this exact reason because it used to take twice as long to mouth target than just shooting yourself in the face
if you manage to let a xeno shuffle you in that 2 seconds, that is a skill issue on your part for either being too close in the first place or waiting too long to commit
