Trying to get hives to stop fighting marines is like herding cats, and I’d rather not ruin someone’s round and banish people.
But the current forbid slashing mechanic doesn’t work. I resorted to allying USCM a few weeks ago, but technically it’s not allowed rulewise so having this mechanic actually functional would be cool
Did they remove that queens can forbid slashing? But also, when would you even use that mechanic without griefing people?
You can click it and it sends a message saying “slashing of hosts is now forbidden” but it doesn’t actually do anything people can still fight normally.
I usually want to use it when I repeatedly ask people to fallback but they insist on bumrushing marines into an instant fobsiege and turning round to slop.
Yeah it only forbids slashing on hugged people, it’s very misleading. I don’t think using ally mechanic is against the rules as long as you don’t really mean it.
I think it is against the rules; not sure if it’s hard-written anywhere but I did get bwoinked for doing it. Let off with a warning after explaining the situation, but yeah I don’t think I can reliably use it.
So if we could either get a functional mechanic that essentially does the same thing as Ally USCM, or we can OOCly just choose to amend the pliability around using the hive alliance (just a rulechange would probably be easier now that I think about it)
The rules are the xenomorphs are not friendly to the marines and will not negotiate with them. I’d argue its a weird situation but that if you were using the “alliance” mechanic to force xenos to stop engaging the marines, that it might be acceptable, but I can also see why someone might request you not do this, as you have to be careful that doing it also allows marines to ignore weed slowdown penalties, move through resin doors, ignore facehuggers, etc, etc. So it is extremely dangerous.
Frankly, I’d just banish anyone ignoring you and report them to online admins. The Queen’s word is absolute and if someone is ignoring you after you’ve given them plenty of warning, just let us drop the hammer on them.
I mean that’s what I was told when I got PMd that game as well, but I just personally don’t like banishing. It turns me into a dick, the person being banished doesn’t like it, the whole hive overall suffers a tank in morale… Idk it would be nice to have a second option that mechanically serves similar to alliance, but doesn’t go against the rules; at least I personally would like that, can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m sure there’s at least a few others out there
Yeah alliance forces everyone to disengage while banishment makes you lose a xeno and its evo and the rest of the hive is not guaranteed to react.
If the xeno players can’t kill marines, you force them to be less aggressive or die.
There are a million situations where you want xeno players to be less aggressive - marines are strong in numbers, so you need to pull them apart and that doesn’t happen if you’ve got a bunch of xeno players constantly pushing marines together like they’re sheep dogs.
VERY often these kinds of players either outright ignore queen orders or are somehow simply incapable of reading the chat. Hence the need for a mechanical deactivation of their fun circuits.
