Suggestion: Add colony pets to the map as a lesser surv role. Dogs would obviously be the most useful, but there could be other pets as well!
Utility:
Night vision/keen hearing. The dog could see/smell xenos in the dark and alert the humans by facing in the appropriate direction and growling. Can also detect stealthed lurkers by smell. This could work like a motion detector
Can lead medics to wounded or dying humans, lassie style!
Can be loaded with packs like corrupted xenos and bring supplies to the frontline.
Can tear resin nodes apart maybe I guess? I dunno. I just think dogs would be cool. Period.
Obviously they’d be incredibly easy to kill but very fast, maybe a tad bit slower than a runner. Also they wouldn’t be able to commit suicide, therefor they’d be easier for the xenos to cap. I know how much xenos hate it when survivors suicide after a long fought siege, so maybe the chance of an extra cap could give xenos a little more incentive to tackle survivors.
I do however think this is a somewhat interesting idea, but it kind of just takes away a survivor slot, since a Dog really wouldn’t be much help to the survivors at all.
I just wanted this added so I can read the absolute shitshow of player reports it will cause.
I know you imagine its going to be you leading the way to survivor bodies and being praised as a good dog…
In actuality… xenos will slash you… and the marines are going to shoot you. Probably with a flamer while making jokes about “asian cooking” or some shit; but entirely out of spite
It would be LRP not to shoot a dog as a marine, why would you be noted for it? Soldiers don’t go “ahhhhhh doggoooo ahhhh dogie dogie dogie ” when a dog barks at them in a combat zone
As I surv I already gotta deal with the useless bastard that the CL surv is, so if I can get a surv that is useless like the CL but unlike the CL it will not yap nonstop I’d call that a great QoL addition for survs.
