Description of the incident:

  1. I am an acid runner. A drone screams about a “headhunter” taking their resin fruit while we’re sieging FOB

  2. Queen tells me I’m not allowed to engage FOB yet so I obey, but I’m sitting there bored as fuck

  3. I’m chilling by some fruit when said headhunter runs into the room - I’ve never gotten to directly fight a predator before as marine - they’re usually MUCH faster than me - I immediately start chasing the fucker

  4. I give chase and almost score a hit, he cloaks, I’m able to make his shimmer out vaguely though so I keep chase

  5. I lose sight of him.

  6. 20-40 seconds later I see him uncloaked again headed right back to where I met him at

  7. I give chase to protect our siege’s backline - I’m still not allowed to engage FOB yet

  8. He fires a plasma caster at me. I dodge it. At the time I did not know this was an insta-gib weapon. I keep chasing.

  9. I lose track again. 20-30 seconds later he meets me toward the siege again and bashes me with his shield. I say “ow” and give chase in his general direction

  10. He keeps cloaking and uncloaking. I manage to finally catch up while he’s uncloaked.

  11. I scream “ACID TIME YOU HUNTER” because I’m gonna acid-slash his armored ass. I land 1 slash. He then shoots me with his plasma caster - it lands this time.

  12. I say “the fuck” in genuine confusion in dchat that preds are able to insta-gib and dchat kindly explains the concept to me

You chased me for a significant period of time, as an acid runner, swiping with a clear intent to try and farm acid.

I had no intent on fighting you, nor letting you farm acid. You continued to make chase despite me being extremely lenient, firing a caster at the nearby ground to make you see what might happen if you kept up

you then come at me and go “It’s acid time” which further proved what I suspected, your intent to acid farm me, and your refusal to go away so I HPCed you after giving you a lot more chance due to being young.

I also LOOCed if you were orbiting me after your death to explain why you got castered, if you were new.

i didn’t know what a plasma caster was

i literally just wanted to fight you, because you rarely get to fight preds, and you insta-gibbed me.

i never ran away from you not even once, which having read the honor code here it pretty clearly says I need to have like, actually engaged u, ran away to heal, then engaged again for it to be “acid farming”

double edit: I won’t accuse you of maliciousness/baiting like I did in this post previously, that feels unnecessary and I apologize

I assure you that if I wanted to caster you the first time, I would have. I tend to wander the grounds uncloaked because if other preds are around they can uncloak and talk to me, and per honor code only standing around like a mook doing nothing is a problem near prey. Which I wasn’t doing, I was moving and observing the front.

Since you are unaware, predators if they are not going to fight you will be near impossible for you to catch because they will keep cloaking and running. In honor code they can also nuke people being nuisances for attacking them unprovoked, for this kind of situation specifically.

Since you are new I’ll explain why predators are rare to fight acid runners:

Acid runner players will fight a pred for lots of free hits, giving them tons of acid to do a massive game ending explosion if they hit it. Predators do not want to have the round get griefed because they let an acid runner farm on them, so predators do not fight acid runners. Especially because they ALWAYS run the fuck away once wounded, only there to take stacks.

I’m sorry you got gibbed, I try not to use my caster ever, especially on young xenos. While you may not have been acid farming, predators are somewhat conditioned by the median acid runner that they’re all just stack farming to run off. Hense why there’s a specific clause for them in the honor code
