Drag capturing sucks. It really does. What the capturing rebalance was supposed to fix in that xenomorphs were compensated an extra larva, and marines told to adapt. Xenomorphs have adapted to undo everything the capturing rebalance PR changes in favor of stunlock.

While I’m open to change and still disagree with how double burst is, and this probably having hints of that in it. I’m still open to change. I think the fact that xenomorphs can just repeatedly stun someone and drag someone to hive, time consuming or not is boring and not really that fun to fight against.

I think Marines should be able to use their melee weapons when knocked down, to the same effectiveness if not more that of when being hauled, when dragged by a xenomorph. It seems fair enough - why wouldn’t someone be able to do the same thing when shoved over by a xenomorph compared to absolutely restrained?

the meta is ‘get facehugger’ then ‘hand to runner/drone/anyone-else’
absent hugger it should not be possible for a runner or drone to run allllll the way back to the hive unassisted (be it handovers or queen heal opportunity cost).
Either currently the ‘reverse burst’ damage is too pitiful to make it a serious issue for the experienced (read: not lost in the map),
Or there should be a possibility of breaking free from being hauled while struggling, perhaps with a ramping chance over time, perhaps even increased with a weapon. (it might even be fun/funny if a marine could occasionally shoot in random directions from the xeno tile while struggling with whatever they were holding, capping unhugged GL might be entertaining).
For all intents and purposes being dragged while stunned should count as being hauled for this.

happens with runnercap screech. don’t think you can do much about it, seems like a fair alternative to straight up nerfing/removing imo

idk man screech runnercapping seems pretty balanced and fair to me
it seems like you just have a skill issue and are coping about it, there are so many things you can do to counter it!

i really hope this is satire

When thinking about this mechanic I found a issue.

When devored you do damage. When spit out you still do damage to the already low health xeno who transport you, now there is no counter to that.
Wouldnt that lead to a issue?

Yeah this PR sucks it doesn’t fix the stun spam issue, but rewards xeno with 2 larva’s. Xenos dont need a tunnel to cap it’s more or less there to decrease time to get to hive so the nerf doesn’t even affect xenos that much.

I’ve got hit with this incredible mechanic.
Screech then ate by an acid runner on half hp, hit him with mar 50 regurgitated stunned ate again. Hit him with knife same thing hit him with lunge mine same thing hit him with a second lunge mine by that time I’m already in hive.

Maintainers have been looking for ways to decrease the effectiveness of tackle-dragging, likely through tackling becoming less effective with successive knockdowns. I will say separately that the re-addition of double burst has had the predicted effect of little to none in terms of balance, all that it has really accomplished is allowing the players that die more frequently on xeno more opportunities to play, which is very nice and beneficial, but ultimately unimportant in the scope of helping the xenos win.

Why are you alone? You can’t be serious if you genuinely want the game to be in a situation where you could’ve escaped from that.

Why didn’t you run away? You went sideways instead of into safety, and then even PUSHED the alpha FTL towards the queen with your movement, then you realized you were in trouble and so you started to actually run away… 4 seconds after you knew the queen was coming.

Wielding an SG makes you slow as hell. Just *nod and run whenever you see Her Majesty Thunder Thighs the Second, don’t shoot at her if your weapon has wielded slowdown

Yes, tackle dragging is boring and it sucks. But this thread has too much unrelated copium, IMO

screech/neuro cap uneffected,
woyer/runner tackle-drag to the nearest hugger/carrier/frontline-morpher uneffected,
tackle-dragging/hauling across the map all the way back to hive - good chance to break free after struggle.

This just sounds like it’ll make capping even more nightmareish.

  • Get knocked
  • Start slashing xeno for like 5-10+ seconds while they try to haul you (Xenos take increased melee damage)
  • Start slashing while they’re hauling (Still taking increased melee damage)
  • Xeno dies barely halfway to wherever they’re taking you through no fault of their own

I agree that the stunlock across the map by a single runner/drone whatever is stupid and completely unfun to play against, and the whole argument of just “Don’t get grabbed” is old. In the case of being alone in this particular post it just kinda happens which sucks. But I agree something has to give especially with xenos having double burst for basically no work

Who said anything about struggle having to deal lots of damage with this drag/haul struggle idea?
It could even work unarmed in theory (less effectively) :wink:

if you always have to run away from queen to have a chance of surviving how the fuck are you meant to fight bugs and take territory?
