Mentor Application - BloodMzxn

Character Name(s):

Takashi Hirano, Seo Kyung-Mi (Xenomorph is LT)

Why do you want to become a Mentor?:

Mainly because I feel the urge to help new players whenever asked or possible to. It feels nice to be kind to others and receive kindness in return, amirite? Another killer or sister made by your own hands and forged by their will to keep playing.

What gameplay areas do you know and which areas are you strong and weak in?:

I have full faith in my main departments aside from some side stuff that I will memorize as my application is being reviewed. As for weak sides, OT is the thing I can handle only with the usage of guides, and I have basic knowledge in Research (stim making, corpse salvaging, etcetra.) I played it before for sometime, but didn’t dig in extensive stuff like corrupted benos/predaliens.

As for Xenomorphs, I know their stuff relatively well. (However, I may lack knowledge in some exact specifics, excluding Queen stuff.) While I do prefer to not have myself titled as “UNGA MAIN or XENO MAIN”, I played both sides for a good time and still play depending on the mood.

How often are to able to play CM?:

Honestly? 1-2 per day, way more if I have free time which is often, and also depends on mood. I, regardless, still play server oftenly nonetheless.

Steadfast ASO; would love to see you around in some more tailored roles that are focused in particular areas but you definitely have a wealth of knowledge as senior command and OW to give people and i really enjoy working in engineering or intel when you’re active.

additionally, the t3 hours logged i think are a huge boon. more is always nice but i think many a rav or crusher could use your guidance!

EDIT: hmmmm on some further rounds, i think sometimes the way you convey knowledge about roles or features can be kind of abrasive from my encounters in med, hm, and sg; i think that needs some work but i don’t think it’s disqualifying of any of the aforementioned very good things you can bring to the mentor team.

since i know that’s to an extent your character, i think sustaining a very different character as a secondary/tertiary who would be your potential SEA would be helpful to rectify any impressions on that! (and i unfortunately don’t have a solid impression on seo since i mostly just hear them as Big Voice in the Sky from the Normandy  )

i do still really like seeing you in round because i know you try to give it your all, i just would be conscientious going forward that a good first goal for any mentor working with new players is to make them feel welcomed, and then, after that, make them knowledgable. last half is there, first half is…75% there imo? it’s not noticeable with everything ever, but maybe once every other round i scratch my head a little at the way you said something to or about someone.

to your great credit, i know you’ve been grinding those med hours since i last commented, and i’ve seen you plenty in a bunch of other non-ASO and CMP roles, so i don’t doubt at all that you really want this and really want to know things so you can help other people to know things.

Leaving a +1. Pleasant to roleplay with (has to bear the brunt of my tsundere tendencies ), and has consistently expressed his mechanical know-how on the marine side of things.

Great dude, I played a ton with him ingame.
I believe he would be fit for teaching new players.

Throwing in updates hours. Got some XO rounds, been successful so far. A CO WL holder even told me to apply for CO, funnily enough.

A time for another time update! Some FTL mortar hours and CE hours, XO hours 'n etcetra.

After playing a couple of rounds with Takashi, I can say that their in-game knowledge is up to par, and I think they’d make an excellent addition to the mentor team.

I have played several rounds with them, and they seem well-versed on the marine side of things, especially on the ground! But across multiple rounds when they were a shipside officer, I observed them tell other players, including new ones, what or how they “should” be doing things in a very aggressive, hostile, and arrogant manner. I have seen them interact this same way with players in subordinate roles/ranks to them. Based on this, I do not think they are ready to be a mentor

I do not deny this may and probably happened few times at best.

There is this that you cannot differ sometimes new players outside of PVT marines, as even experienced players or those who atleast know what to do have tendency to not put their medals on.

Most of my yelling is reasonable and happens when people do some insane shit. I keep it IC and only IC. If a person doesn’t know what to do something and clearly states that to me (or it’s atleast obvious they don’t know how), I’ll be happy to help and teach them normally. You kind of treat game very differently when you’re already a Mentor for a long time (with a display of who is a new player) and just a common player.

Ultimately, I’ll focus to improve my patience when it comes to such situations, thanks for your feedback.

Approved, I do understand the difference between IC and OOC treatment. Just understand especially in the SEA role you’ll expected to tone it back.
