So I’ve been thinking about this app a bit, and at least from checking into you a bit more there’s of course how everyone’s mentioned your recent playtime being a bit low. Based on your application and what I’ve seen you say you’re mainly just interested in playing SEA.
Notably having said yourself: “I’d love to play SEA without being a mentor” “mentor is like… …an actual responsibility” “oh also i dont really want to apply for mentor because i like to hop from server to server and being staff on one would kinda tie me down to it”
SEA is the least important part of being a Mentor and is also non-essential to the point where I’m very willing to jobban mentors from SEA for things I may not also remove them from Mentor from. If you’re under an illusion SEA will suddenly revitalize CM for you or anything I can tell you it’s not likely.
That being said I’m interested in your response.
I understand that SEA is a minor part of the mentor umbrella. I try to passively help new players when i come along them without an expecation of being noticed or rewarded, and I’d like to use SEA as a tool to continue this habit. I believe CM is at it strongest when you forget meta builds, mucho robustos, or deadchat salt and just try to get immersed in the aliens lore, and I love the idea of SEA as an immersive tool to teach new players. I would not shy away from normal mentoring, especially since brand new players need to know what to do more than they need to know what sector of space the ship is in or what the human enemies are called.
I acknowledge that taking on an official staff role isn’t something to be done flippantly, I have made a promise to myself to commit to this position, and I still intend to commit to it if I am allowed. However I disagree with you that SEA couldn’t or wouldn’t be an interesting vector to play CM in, I dont speak for anyone else but myself, and I would love an immersive roleplay oriented role that gets to interact with a large number of people like SEA. The ASO role I might count as a diluted SEA role if not for all of the busy work in intel and req.
I really think I can positively impact this community and pay it back for all the fun and salt it’s brought to me over these 7 or so years.
Due to the focus on playing SEA, it puts a taste of soap in my mouth. because of this I will be remaining neutral. My issues are the same as RP explained. This isn’t a WL, its a OOC role to help new players.

While earlier I elaborated on my concern with your primary interest for SEA my biggest concern is that I’d like you to be more in touch with the current state of the game both Marine and Xeno. That is to say despite your long time in the community your hours suggest you haven’t particularly played much recently.
