More effective Almayer AA guns

AA guns when set correctly to protect the zone the dropship is crashing in should kill at least 25-50% of the Xeno pop inside that ship. This will be good to prevent queens from constantly meta landing at the same spot over and over.

Sorry king, but no. This would be very unfun for the percentage of xenomorph players who (randomly?) got selected for culling. Maybe another change, but not this one.

What’s about injuring the benos aboard, dealing no permanent damage to the hive (except when marines metarush the ds the moment it lands), but forcing the xenos to heal before rushing the marine metaspot?

Perhaps the Anti-Air systems could be set so that there is a way for the Almayer to delay the time it takes for the hijacked ship to crash?

Perhaps some kind of minigame where someone operates the anti air gun? Or perhaps the AA gun can load additional ammo and spend that ammo to protect certain areas of the ship.

An example being
AA gun gets 6 shells, the operators can then spend shells to cover the six areas of the ship, the amount of ammo spent to cover an area determines the effect, such as…

  • Spend 1 shell = If the ship was to land here, the ship has a 25% delay to its arrival
  • Spend 2 shell = If the ship was to land here, the ship has a 25% delay and it is forced to divert to another area
  • Spend 3 shell = ^^ the ship is delayed by 50% instead of 25%, plus the Marines are alerted to where the ship is going to crash

Essentially there’s more strategy to where you want to spread your defensive fire?

This is exactly what it’s doing already, plus diverting to another place. Honestly I think it would be fine if it worked like CAS and could kill a bunch of T1.

If hijack ever got moved to optional i could see allowing AA to do serious damage.

counter proposal if AA is on the good spot xeno loose 25-50% of their health and if it’s not something like 12.5-25%
wouldn’t change balance unless marine counter push immediately would just add some flavor.

WHAT??? you want it to kill xenos because the queen chose the wrong spot to land? Really?

Not because queen chose the wrong spot to land, but because marines predicted the spot queen is going to land.

But because marines got lucky, there’s no prediction here, marines have absolutely no idea where queen is going to land until the dropship hits.

I think giving the AA hitting more stakes than just “Marines get an extra two minutes” would shake up the meta in a good way, and frankly it’d be more believable. The idea that the Almayer’s AA guns magically just don’t damage things outside events is pretty silly – as is the idea that crashing through the Almayer’s hull doesn’t present any kind of consequences for those inside the dropship, but I digress.

There really should be something more dramatic if the dropship’s actually being fired upon. A couple telegraphed explosions like the lifeboat or the Almayer pipes could be a good way to add to the atmosphere and make the situation feel more desperate. Hell, could spice up the landing, too.

Current xeno meta is research (if you have good numbers) or lower engineering (if you don’t).

No way this isn’t a shitpost

I just want the dropship when its engaged by the AA, to get cosmetically peppered with GAU explosions that toss xenos around without killing them and put a bunch of decorative holes in the hull of the dropship.

you know, something that’s cool and fun and doesn’t change anything gameplay wise

allow marines to suicide charge the hijacked dropship with the other dropship, destroying both of them permanently and stranding the entire hive in space

Just remove hijack

how about a teeny tiny chance that the Alamo just fucking combust and marine major.

What if correctly set AA changed the crash fire to OB fire (with appropriate duration) or simply told Marines where the shuttle is actually going to crash? You’ve got a 1/6 chance of being right and both of those would be decent buffs for that correct guess.

This honestly is a cool idea.

And it doesn’t even kill random players for something they didn’t do!
