i wass thinking the game is very silent when no one is opening doors or shooting. wich happens a lot in shipside. or in the very core of the hive so i tought adding walking sounds that only yourself can hear. would be great or everyone but that sounds bad so i also think that maybe adding a ping sound when someone points at you or calls out your name on radio or on chat would be nice when 50 people are in a single place and everyone just talks whatever i get so lost sometimes

Got idea, but not with sounds. Big and bold chat message when somebody points something 1-2 tiles around you.
The rest is already in game with fancy chat. You can set up 5 different words that will light up whole log and mark said words, so nothing is stopping you from setting your name, nickname, surname and two common diminutives of them.

I don’t like the idea of flooding the game with background noise. There are only two things I want to hear: queen stomps and screech (plus occasional *warcry, I guess)

Yeah, that migth be a bit much.
But i think being able to apply like background music to ares would be very cool.
That way the “mental break room” on the almayer could have calming woodland noises playing if you enter it.
Personally always thougth the area music some servers have is way too cool.

Unironically, you can fix this by setting your text highlights to “Exact” so that you only get the highlighted text for when CO appears as its own word in chat, as opposed to anytime the two letters appear together in a word.
I do this for my text highlights as well. It admittedly means that I have to have an insanely long list of words I need to set highlights for, but once you’re done, you never have to do it again. Here’s my list for reference:

Meta-friends and variations of their namesDo note that because of the abbreviation of Staff Officer being SO, any instance of the word "so" will trigger the chat highlight regardless. This could be solved by further making the SO highlight be case exact, but I recommend against doing that in the event someone forgets to capitalize SO

I just remembered something, adding a sound or bold big chat message when someone pointing at you is fun till you end up on a table, stripped, and having the entire medbay do “point and laugh” at you for being bald at a shove-fight with a PVT.

In alot of cases there are people and especially shipside roles, who watch stuff or listen to stuff on the side (youtube, netflix and etc). There are also walkmans and many cassettes (each got 6 songs) for listening to music if you want some background noise.
I think the idea itself is decent but would also be quite overstimulating for some.
