For those who got to experience it for the first 20 minutes, how did it fare? I know xenoes had fun teleporting to the alamyer.
All i know is that somebody’s wife died on the alamo… scary shit man…
MY WIFE IS DEAD
Juro fucking spirit bombed the alamo so that was neat
roofs are cool
Ordering all of alpha to line up and go in one by one to shave their head was soulful, bless CM
2 of my survivor bros fell through a hole in the wall in ETA, breaking their legs, and yet I used my stretchy arms to reach through and pull them both up one story back into the labs
i lost my tank crew roll : (
queen stomps were heard on the stairs and there were weeds inside the CL’s office somehow
looks like it also crashed on the second test
Its so fucking joever. Pouncing between buildings was PEAK.
I wanted to live the dream of a rooftop sniper…got the sniper spec roll and everything.
Anyone got clips or videos of the round? I really wanted to participate but due to having to go to work next day i couldnt.
multi-z looked fucking baller, it only increased my hype for it tbh
I played on the 1/19 round of Multi-z Solaris. Here are some of my thoughts and experiences.
LZs cannot have buildings adjacent to them (or at the very least they need airdrop sentries to sit on them TOO). Otherwise this leads to a one sided LZ slaughter where marines all die horribly literally first drop before a FOB can even be built. And also invalidates LZ cades as xenos can just spit and spray over them with impunity.
Xenos have practical immunity and impunity while ontop of roofs. They can use most if not all of their abilities to attack marines who cannot fight back until they manage to hell climb the wall, which has a high likelyhood of them just being shoved back off or dying on the roof which is almost a guaranteed way to perma.
I would suggest only allowing ranged xeno abilities like spit and gas to work multi-z while on top of roofs.
Roofs currently are bugged (I hope) in that they all count as deep cavern. This prevents CAS or OB from doing anything to them and adds even more to the slog of roof combat. I am uncertain how feasible this is, but allowing CAS strikes/OB to be multi-z would also be a nice bonus.
Falling off a roof should damage marines, this I agree with. However currently it does so much damage and is so simple to do that it will, if untreated, kill a marine from full health. This is more of a balancing issue. I don’t think lagstepping off the roof, being shoved by marine or xeno, or even just not paying attention should lead to your round ending.
I did not test this so I’m uncertain if its possible(I lagstepped into a trap and died very early), but marines should be able to fire while looking up. If this is not currently possible it is, in my opinion, necessary before multi-z is fully implemented.
On that note, sentries should also be able to aim multi-z. They’re automated systems, they should be able to shoot something on a roof without also having to be on a roof, and vice versa for being on a roof and shooting below.
Commisioning someone to draw a drone dragging a marine with stretchy hands up two stories and then pushing them down. Because that was half my round and it was so fucking funny i laughed the entire way through.
Because all you do is grab some unfortunate soul next to a building, drag them up by moving a tile back, and then pushing them off. This stuns the marine if not outright kills them and you can do this again and again.
All of this.
Also, CT’s REQUIRE more roundstart metal to deal with the fact that you now how to deal with not ONE, but THREE fronts (middle roof, end roof).
CT’s also need better options, such as ability to build ladder (that allows near instant climbing up and down), stairs, and be able to build lattices that they can then turn into roof tiles to cross large open ground in mid and top roof tops.
Otherwise, this will just be a xeno W every round since xenos can just sit at the third roof top hived right next to FOB and marines will go into instant mega FOB mode without taking a step from FOB since the rooftops are so powerful right now its not even funny.
Oh yeah, just for future refrence to going up and down Z levels. You can ctrl click the open area to climb down without taking massive damage as a human or a T3/queen.
I definitely think that CAS should hit the rooftops and beneath equally (in places where it penetrates)
OBs should of course glass both too.
Mortars should also hit both in areas they penetrate.
Just because otherwise it’s an insane marine nerf, like unfathomable force projection loss
From a balance perspective Multi Z will be ass for groundmaps (that arent Ice v1/2)
The only maps I would see this being utilized is shipmaps and other niche places.
Good thing these tests were more about performance than balance, to see if its even feasable for CM to have it.
I really like the idea of xenos being able to drag people into the vents like in the movies, like imagen delta pushing med on kutjevo and then the SL is just snatched up
I remember the USS Almayer 2.0 that had a somewhat MultiZ version where you could jump from second floor to hangar and stuff. I dont remember what they called that map but it was good times
