So, question.

What’s the play for the HPR?
Reflex, comp, bipod or vertical, bring your own barricades?

Reflex/Magnet, vertical grip and BC for pushing with normal ammo, on burst mode too
RDS, bipod and Silencer for defensive with hollowpoint, single mode
I use those two and works very well for me

Impressive very nice now lets see Paul Allen’s HPR loadout.

I put a bayonet on it and beat the xenos to death with it

Personally i only use the normal 300 round box mags they do a bit more damage then the holo 200 mag, i slap on a reflex sight and vert grip and burst, i dont bother with any muzzle attachments honeslty, focus one xeno and burst burst while stationary and youll melt xenos, you can also run and gun with that setup too

HPR still gives IFF with Bi pod. The perfect scam.

Vert grip and Reflex lower scatter, I think suppressor does too. With all three I use holoammo on burst fire as a support weapon to give a xeno 10% damage increased damage taken.

It may not look like much, but you essentially give everyone a mini BC and regain the entire damage you lost from having a suppressor.

Otherwise I go with BC, BFA and Mag harness in hvh to force my enemies to play Touhou.

Honestly HPR is the gun i use when i can’t think of a good loadout to use

300 rounds means that i dont need to carry around much mag and leaves space in my inventory for me to pick up useless shit

I think every PVT Rifleman should spawn with an HPR. Embrace the Chaos that is SS13.

The first time i tried to properly use a HPR i had a mild accident in the shooting range and got banned for eorg.

I imagine bess the unique m38D would be like a HPR but better. If only i could figure out what ammo it uses.

marines would win every round if only they could load bess

Whats strange is that its states are not on the wiki despite it being in the game. Which leads me to think there might not be ammo for it at all. Which is a shame as it seems like it would be a very good heavy machine gun because I think its supposed to be the precursor to the smart gun.

After rocking this thing like a beast for ages, I’ll share with you my loadout.

First we start with the gun:
HPR + Reflex sight (tighten the spread) + Flashlight grip (so you can see further) or A-Grip (if mobility is primary concern)

Use the weapon in single fire only. Spam those clicks in, oorah. (if you want to use burst, V-Grip will be the only solution.)

Ammo solution. HPR magazines contain 300 round each.

We carry 3 in the normal webbing, for a total combat load of 1200 rounds. That’s about 3-4 times the average amount a marine normally carries.

Do NOT carry more than this amount of ammo. Most people die before they go halfway through their first box. Don’t be the guy who didnt get to fire a shot and then I loot a full belt of HPR ammo from his dead ass.

You also want to carry a motion detector on the belt. Wherever it beeps, you just send a burst at it, regardless if it in the light or not. It will guide your fire perfectly.

As for pouches:

1 first aid pouch with 1bic,kelo,tram,tric injectors. Bandage and splint go in the armor. e-injector goes in helmet.

1 Flare pouch. You cannot shoot what you cannot see. Wherever the MD beeps in the dark, throw a flare at it. Light up the whole area so that you and your marines can engage at your full range. The more distance between you and xenos, the better.

Carry whatever you want on the back, I personally carry 2x Flare packs, 1 mod88 and 3x spare mags for it, just in case i need to run fast or pull someone back.

However do keep in mind, you really need to have learned your firing lines very well to effectively use the HPR. Its power comes from sustained damage rather than instant damage. So position yourself well and find the best firing line to avoid FF and get shots on target consistently.

Reflex sight, vgrip, BC, fire on burst.

With this configuration, you should play it like a “heavy m39”. Engage xenos to around 4-5 tile range or closer and laugh as each burst does the damage of a buckshot PB.
