so I thought about something, about how GL spec is super fun to play on offense because you can clear out large sections of defense and take ground, but its awful to play on defense, because your grenades will mostly only screw over your defenses and stunned xenos can just retreat mostly safely. So I had an idea taken from xcom enemy unknown/within: the needle grenade.
This grenade (in HEDP form) basically does a similar amount of damage and stun to an HEDP, but either no or very little structure damage, as it perforates the area in a cloud of needles that penetrate armor. The needle grenade will shred armor, do okay ish damage, stun for maybe shorter than HEDP but enough to be useful, and wont destroy your own cades when used on defense. Of course a stun and armor shred isn’t enough to confirm a kill on defense, but it would be great to dent a T3 offensive, especially if you have m2c or air support. They should be purchasable in the spec vendor same as the other grenades, and either be exclusive to GL or very rare otherwise
The grenade in question. EU doesnt have armor, but I imagine it would have had an armor shred value. Also it has more than double the blast radius but i dont think we should add that as it will be too oppressive, or if we do then up the cost of them to be similar to how a pyro spec can stop a queen push
