Ahhh, I was thinking of ENTIRELY walling it in.

This is a clever setup. But from what I can tell, it requires taking down two cabin walls (or one and a cade) and a reinforced wall to expose the turret. Once you destroy the turret this strategy falls apart. A T1-2 can handle the cabin wall/cade and turret, meaning the T3 just needs to show up, destroy a single wall and leave.

Is it annoying? Sure. But there’s an established method of counterplay, and you’re talking about a really important objective and a defense that takes significant time and resources to set up. If the Marines could send a spec to take out the Xenos’ comms, you can bet they’d do it in a heartbeat.

If this does end up actually warping rounds to a substantial degree, increasing the plasteel cost would make sense to me (why does a folding plasteel barricade take more resources than a goddamn wall anyhow?). Usually Marines construct reinforced walls to plug small gaps, not make entire structures, so it wouldn’t have a hugely adverse effect on normal gameplay. I wouldn’t want to make mechanical changes to what can take down reinforced walls, however, as they have a significant role in map design and balance.

I will transition to being a women before a T2/T1 will manage to get past that cade, assuming that another xeno has already died to the mine+ammo box+fire stun. This is semantics.

Got curious about how oppressive this is, so I recreated it. Turns out there’s a blind spot.

Edit: Also tested making the final hallway to the turret one longer. Defender doesn’t do great, but there’s still a blind spot you can shoot from with a ranged caste, and you can still tailstab the barricade if you hug the wall since it has to be on the tile in front of the sentry.

Let’s say (hypothetically) that harasser castes didn’t tackle-spam-drag people and instead used the devour mechanic that they’d have much more time to harass combat techs (which build very slow) to prevent r-walling

drag tackle = not taking damage
devour = possibility of being chestbursted if low hp

devour = take 1/6th of my hp every 2 seconds because of magharn bayonet. I lost half of my hp from capping this marine in the first place. The hive is 30s of traveling away.
Drag tackle = no hp loss, takes a little bit longer to drag the marine.

remember when in the aliens movie they built 20 rwalls around the dropship landing area on sulaco and the synth kept welding it infinitely so queen couldnt escape, thus letting W-Y bring a fully healthy intact xeno queen to earth?
