Nothing too different, just instead of being able to devour one host, it devours two. Instead of having eggs or huggers, it can only carry two huggers that will hug devoured host which is its special ability. It could generate two huggers as well over a period of time to be ready to hug devoured hosts. Less hp, slightly faster, maybe… invisibility? Too far but could you fucking imagine a second invisible xeno!
maybe it could be balanced by having it act as a stasis bag meaning the hugged timer doesn’t countdown while inside the abductor.
also they are in a coma while inside.
Actually a fun idea. A Carrier strain that is focused on the gobbeling up of hosts. the main problem is that its not really worth it. Every xeno can swallow hosts up. Lurker can transport hosts inside them safe with invisbility and runners are incredibly fast.
But honestly, i think that one would fit a runner strain better. Its carapese losening allowing even quicker movements, swallowing two hosts but making it more vulnreabel. A runner is often already the go to option for transport. Making it better at it with some added combat advtanges and disadvanteges migth be the better way for this to go.
I like this idea, but id make it as fast as vampire and maybe +1 range on tackle and slash so it can down marines from a little farther away.
Carrier does need some more love honestly. I was hoping there’d be a strain that would let you throw huggers properly, as at the moment throwing them is useless, even though I do see some Carriers do that. They need to work like very slow projectiles or have a windup like a player controlled hugger does when pouncing as to not be so unbalanced, nobody wants to see a return to “Hugger Gameplay” as it was in the old days…
My main problem with this idea is that both hosts are knocked out unable to get out. Instead how about damage from weapons is halved when attempting to reverse burst.

I think that it being a Carrier strain makes people more likely to drone in the early game and be productive for the first seven minutes instead of adding a reason for larva to wait for other t1 evoutions,
adds diversity to a t2 which is desperately sought after imo, like how many of us just want a warrior strain or a burrower strain to diversify our gameplay. alternatively this could be a burrower strain or hive lord strain where hivelord can’t build but makes capturing talls on weeds like two times faster with resin walking and frenzy
I’m interested in another strain idea for carrier, but now that you mentioned it why don’t we have any other xenos capable of cloaking.
