As I was writing this, Thwomper shot down the idea of even considering new tapes, but I am damn well going to post this up anyway because this has been stewing in my head for a few weeks and I feel it’s solid enough proposal that It could at least be considered.
Being thrown in ideas guys for feedback and create a solid PR with community input, so it’s not just “One guy adding tapes of their favorite music” that thwomp is used to seeing and complain about. It should be tracks that follow the themes already on the server (with a silly side suggestion or two).
I have some general outline ideas of what types of tapes to add, and some of my own suggestions, nothing is concrete, anything can be adjusted on feedback, but it should all include a little of something from different people. Though there is a criteria to keep to the current standard we have now. Read on.
Goals:
The goal of the new tapes is to follow the current structure of what we have. mostly 6 songs, following a theme, with a different artist and song per tape (Or maybe the same artist but different song on side’s A and B with some minor exceptions for one or two ideas)
The second aim is to aim for music that would of been on a cassette or anything on and before 1998 (I know CDs were already extremely mainstream by 1992 or so, but we have Intergalactic on tape and that wouldn’t of been released on tape I’m using that as the limit for the mainline tapes.)
Primary Tape concepts:
Hip Hop & RnB Tape (Only tape with 8 songs, aimed at the 90s East Coast vs West Coast on each side. The aim would be for songs without extreme profanity or banned words or use radio versions if needed to depending on admin input)

Carman Miranda’s Ghost (This is a tape dedicated to just this soundtrack. reason being it being pretty popular on most SS13 servers, and I find it fits the setting of these like, space folk tales spreading around to all sorts of sectors is pretty fun)

These are a bit out of left field and can be a bit more open ended though they might follow the 6 track rule, they might not follow the era rule, and don’t need to be added to the PR with some theme consistency. (Aka these are mostly for fun)
SS13 Tape: Could be themed around “Corporate Approved music tapes distributed to space platforms and stations in the private sector” Pretty much any other SS13 server. Doesn’t need to be in the vendor itself, could be a rare spawn in a crate or something (Or if the vendors have hacked inventories could be hidden that way.)
