Commtech broke into req after I denied them service (they were holding up the line by not asking for actual items, asking for “10mm ammo canisters” and stuff, etc…) They then stole ammo from a crate I had prepared for the frontline off the pad and I thought they had stun batoned me, I called MPs and after questioning them and getting zapped again I gunned them down. Shortly after I realized someone was throwing snap pops at me and I was not getting hit by the Commtech. (Wasn’t the ASO there and the Commtech denied it was them, MPs said they’d investigate). I fully cooperated with MPs and the Admin(s) (I know Smiley was the one that banned me but I think Smelly said something to me too, I mix up their names a lot).
I’m aware of my issues with escalation and lethal force, I briefly reviewed Rule 10 after my last incident and had believed that getting stun baton’d/shocked warranted a lethal response (My screen tinted red so I thought I’d be allowed to respond lethally since I thought that meant I was being harmed). This incident was primarily due to a poor understanding of the rules and since then I’ve mulled it over, read over the rules a lot more carefully and asked for clarifications on escalation in the discord and arrived to my current understanding which I hope is correct (Talked to Smelly and a few other people regarding them as well);
Shoving/Punching/stun equipment/non-lethals (like a steel chair) → Knives, sharp weapons - > guns, lethal weaponry, chems, OD-ing
With escalations allowed if your life is in danger and or if the other person escalated a tier. PLEASE clarify/correct me if I’m wrong since I want to make sure I get this right. With an example as such;
John Marine and I are in medbay when he gets the last 60u of UNGA. Angry, I punch him. John Marine starts to shove/punch me back and after we trade a few blows either of us would be allowed to escalate to a knife if we were really that fussed about it or we were severely injured. If John Marine pulled a gun on me after the first punch I would be allowed to draw my gun as well but only shoot if he shoots first, as it’d be a valid “life in-danger” cause to skip escalation. (Would be proper to ahelp to say John Marine broke escalation as well).
I had waited to submit my appeal after ~2 weeks or so since my prior ban was for one week, just to sort of mull it over, take a break and wait out a longer ban time than the prior ban. I’ve also been informed after 6 months or so notes are not held against a player anymore; I am curious though on if I get any note in the future will I get straight to perma-banned or just rule 10 related issues? Thank you.
