Yautja Application - Ollanius.
What’s your BYOND key?
Ollanius.
What’s your Discord ID?
Dongwaiver#1118.
Do you have a regular character? If so - what’s their name?
Bernard Burkhammer. They’re usually a Bravo Squad Rifleman or a Military Policeman - partially because I like slower-paced roleplay, and partially because my luck with specialist roles’re absolutely horrible.
Yautja Info:
What’s the name of your Yautja?
Tahazu Ur’sange. Note his surname: only Ur’sange-borne Hunters of exceptional merit are given the opportunity to exchange their surname for a more unique honorific.
What clan are you joining?
Minor Clan Ur’sange, a nomadic sect of Hunters without a home to call their own.
If minor: Give your clan lore.
One of the many ‘minor clans’ that’ve proliferated themselves throughout the stars.
The history of Minor Clan Ur’sange isn’t well-known, as most of their ancient records were lost during the ‘Endless Night’: an apocalyptic event that led to the untimely destruction of their home. Most of the sect’s Hunters know little-to-nothing about what exactly happened during this event, and the few who do know - such as the centuries-old Elders that saw everything take place - have remained unnaturally tight-lipped, unwilling to divulge even the smallest-of-details.
Away from the ears of their Elders, many of the sect’s Youngbloods have pondered the 'Unending Night’s truth through hushed whispers. Some believe that their home was engulfed in a perpetual storm, caused by a massive meteorite impact. Others believe that it might’ve been a blooding ritual gone horribly wrong, resulting in their home being completely overrun by the ever-uncontrollable Serpents. Few even believe it to be divine retribution, for sins that’ve long-since been forgotten.
Regardless of its cause, the ‘Endless Night’ has resulted in this sect adopting a nomadic lifestyle: swapping between long voyages through space, and short pitstops on various planets.
Many of these Hunters hold exceptional faith to the Ring of Spirits, and its demigods of fortitude. In their eyes, the defining trait of a Hunter isn’t their strength or prowess, but - instead - their resilience to both physical and mental trauma. No matter how many times they get knocked down, they’ll get right back up again. This is also reflected in many of the sect’s customs: for example, blooding rituals will often involve forcing their participants to endure extended periods of isolation and starvation.
However, resilience isn’t the only thing that this borderline-masochistic sect worships. In fact, one of their more well-known traits - beyond their heightened fortitude and nomadic presence - is their culinary expertise. With every new world harboring hundreds of unknown fauna and flora, these Hunters have naturally learned to become quite adept in turning even the most sickly-looking creatures into delectable dinners: perfect for restoring one’s vitality, after a long hunt.
For special occasions, the Elders will visit the sect’s most hallowed artifact: a lone fruit tree that had been excavated from before their home’s demise, meticulously maintained in a biodome-like compartment of the sect’s flagship. From there, the fruits are gracefully plucked and turned into a jam-like stew with (purportedly) rejuvenative properties, to be consumed by newly-christened Hunters. Few outsiders - save for the Ancients - will ever know the taste of such a legendary stew.
Beyond that, the sect is largely neutral with most minor- and major clans. They prefer to remain by themselves, but wouldn’t object to the occasional joint expedition or celebratory feast.
Yautja Character Story:
Tahazu, a somewhat unremarkable Hunter who had spent all of their life drifting between planets within the Minor Clan Ur’sange’s fleet, embarks on his first lone hunt. This naturally goes awry, and he’s given a taste of his own medicine. Such an encounter leaves him questioning his abilities… until an Elder visits him to offer an unspoken secret - and a word of advice.
