“Hellllp I’ve played the video game TOO MUCH and now I can’t roleplay as the helpless PVT John Baldhead or the Jr Exec Clu Less Cannonfodder”
Have you found yourself saying this? What if there was an option to select what rank you’d like to display once you’ve unlocked it through the required amount of hours? I imagine it would be similar to the system we already have of selecting civilian vs enlisted combat correspondent.
Do you think this would interfere with being able to easily identify new players in need of help? Should PVT be unselectable?
Honestly I kind of want this myself since sometimes I just want to have a chill req round and a QM is going to see a plat ranked CT and be like “oh you know what you’re doing, get X, Y, Z done” and sure I’ll do it. but like sometimes I just want to relax.
If you turn off playtime rewards it sets you to a lower rank if possible. You cannot return to PVT though as it’s intended to be a sign of a new player who needs teaching.
PVT makes sure other players know you’re new, I dont want to expend the effort of teaching a guy just to find out they’re actually McChud Fraggerton and have been wasting my time. PVT needs to stay unselectable.
To be fair, mentors already have the ability to see which player is new because we get special mentor vision that has the word “NEW” appear above a player’s head if they are new to the server or to their role. I don’t think it would interfere much.
Fully agreed. I also keep suggesting that there should be a separate Private Second Class rank grantable by the COs for a week of IRL time. So that you would be able to recognize all the extra special soldiers just by the rank alone and clear the way for them.
