As long there is no counter on it, i can’t see this pr ever get in before there is a another pr first that can actually trigger it. That pr is way ahead of it’s time

I haven’t kept tabs on any recent balance changes, but OT claymores have been an issue for literally months now this isn’t new.

They did revert shrapnel buff and im tryna make spitting claymore triggers em (No more T0 triggering claymore / Spitting now triggers mine by seanlol092 ¡ Pull Request #8707 ¡ cmss13-devs/cmss13 ¡ GitHub). They should be somewhat balance i hope.

now that spitting triggers mines is in that PR… its so much better, just T0 not being able to trigger was not that great.

1- Not a fan of T0s not being able to trigger them
2- should also make tailstabs (not sure if that’s actually enough distance to not instakill though), or ranged non-acid based attacks like runner bone shards be able to trigger them if you actually want practical counterplays. Most of the time these things get backliners, and spitting castes are almost never in the backlines. It’s simply not viable, especially on maps like 624.

But for any of this to work, you have to be actively looking for and see the mines.

The biggest thing, put some kind of projection/telegraph on claymores; a sound, or an exclamation mark like grenades have, along with a detonation delay that gives players adequate time to evade them fairly, as opposed to just being instakilled.

issue with that is it will nerf the mines to the point of being pointless, you may have had a point before the revert. but mines don’t need a delay at the state they are in right now.

now having a sound IS a good idea!

Edit: to clear up what i mean about it making it pointless. Tripwire mines are directional with both exp and shards so it had damage cone some thing like this X being the mine o being damage and # being mostly safe

as long as you can move from first line of o you are flat out safe from most of the damage and all you need to be safe is move one tile up past the mine(x) to be safe. any delay whats so ever will make mines pointless as you could walk over and be safe as all you will have do is just move one more tile past.

Edit 2: i also wish to point out that prox mines alrighty have an small delay.

1 - I hate how T0s became the number 1 counter for mines. Literally a person that died to mines and decided to “Oh minefield time to be lesser drone and clear them all before xeno come here” with 0 consequence for the xeno side. I would say this could be metagaming but people might say “oh xenos are part of a hivemind. they should know how that specific xeno died to a claymore”. And the claymore’s actual job to be used to secure a perimeter and people is piss about it. Yeah sure pre-revert OT claymore is broken as fuck but now that its been reverted and white phosphorus isnt doing extra damage i really doubt it could be anymore useful (unless i found something). I really hate lesser drone being able to trigger claymores pre-shrapnel buff

2 - I really aimed for all xeno’s projectile to trigger claymore but being acid spit seems pretty good to me. Ask a sentinel to go to the backlines to clear claymores and hope they dont die (i doubt they will die to it.

OT Claymore have red blinking lights on them. It could be blocked by items so theres that.
I dont think adding a delay to a tripwire mine would be great for the claymore. The xeno have to be walking perfectly to the claymore to kill them

i have been doing some testing makeing my slapper mines, tweaking my cook book and fucking hell runners fucking melt even with the cheapest shit… and this is what i slap out en-mass…i always wonder why my mine fields don’t seem to get many kills… i thought my slapper were just shit. seem it really is the lessers that are just clearing the mine fields.

as if the runner were trying to clear some of the fields i put down… no way they are geting out alive

In my tests:
If runner runs towards to the sides, they will live

But if they run towards it

They die
