Add OT customizable shotgun shells. Some ideas for shell customization could be tracker/receiver shells, custom chem shells, camera shells, explosive shells, incendiary shells, noise emitter shells, or illumination/flare shells.
Don’t forget incendiary shrap shells so you can FF like you’ve never FF’d before!

OT bullets/shells just sounds tedious as hell and will result in endless Incendiary ammo even if its shit-tier.

yes but you also have to consider that you can load shells in whatever order you want. this is another layer of mechanics that would allow you (with good shooting) to stack/synergise shotgun shell effects. (((potassium+water shells?)))
I think the ammo types we currently have for the shotgun are enough, OTs being able to produce better or “feel better cause they are special” shells would probaly just lead to marines demanding OTs do nothing but mass produce the meta and taking over the workshop if the OT doesn’t.

It was questionable if OTs should be able to make spec ammo for scout and sniper, but making it for the common marine is just way too OP.
What about for a limited-stock shotgun? Possibly the MOU, possibly another shotgun? Or instead of shells, some kind of projectile launcher? A crossbow perhaps?
Just get the M79 and shoot nades like a normal person.

Seriously though, this is a bad, bad idea. Incendiary stops healing- Regardless of the strength of the fire, incendiary ammo is fucking ridiculous against xenos, letting you chase them down much easily.
This would break balance.
Fun fact, fire dosn’t stop non-ravagers healing. If you get set on fire by the random explosions at hijack, you heal faster then the fire burns you (noted you are on weeds and not on the fire tile).
That is very untrue.
CM has an incredibly fun chem system that allows for the most insane shit. If you belive a custom chem loaded bullet does not allow room for much creativity, that is an opinion you have.
You could make bullets that stun xenos for way too long or just outrigth 2-3 shot t1 (maybe t2) if you put enough effort into them.
This is why custom bullets for normal marines would go VERY wrong. Best would really be to only make it for spec ammo. Wich would balance it and also allow the OTs to not be bullyd into only making bullets all round.
But i want to make a point so lets asume there are two bullets types, one being the good old injector dart type and the other basicly mini explosive. Im gonna list a few things you could (theoraticly) make using these custom chem bulles.

Metal foam bullet to creat a metalfoam wall on the tile you hit.

Bullets with ngn5+ in them to cause negative damage (healing bullets for the corpsmen on the go)

Bullets that do extra damage to resin structures (yes there are chems that do that)

Any type of smoke and the mess that would bring

Acid bullets (only usabel in HvH but would fluffing dominate)

Freezing bullets

Heating bullets (not fire)

Slowing bullets (nrc and would be basicly flak bullets that can go harder)

Xeno armor melting bullets
And those are just some i came up with. Like those are all singel property chem bullets. If you start putting in chems that have more then one property, you could do some wild shit.

I feel like no matter how unrealistic CM may be it has a degree of realism that makes it what it is, with the goofy shit that happens/memery.
Come to think of it, using OT bullets or shotgun shells sound like a surefire way to kill marine combat, becuase whats the point if you have 300 different types of ammunition, and chems to instantly dunk on the enemy?
Xeno Armor melting bullets, thats just AP. Slowing bullets, specialist rounds to PFC, plasma draining bullets, metal foam bullets, and fire bullets. It sounds so foreign to CM I dont think it will ever survive, and lets be real would anyone want to be on the recieving end of 30 marines armed with shitty incendieary bullets? Would killing something feel rewarding/an objective for players when all you need is to hit them a few times untill they becomes debuffed to uselessness?
What do you add for xeno to compensate?
Give xenoes an acid pit they can dip their claws in to give more armor pen or leave acid like acid runner (also give it more decap chances)
Also make it so it needs bursted bodies to refill its uses, while giving like 5-8 slashes per use.
Nothing - think of it as the medical buff for the bone gel bullshit. It might give shipside docs something to do since none ever sort intel or haul corpses in my plat MT experience.
No offense guys, but this sounds like ideas I would come up with if I was high and decided to transform CM into a next generation game
