Description of the incident:
During this round I, as the only staff officer handling all squads directly, had an incident with the Quartermaster. I was informed that no supplies had been sent down, which was mounted on even further issues of no FOB being built, and marines scattered with loses piling up. This round was on a knifes edge leading up to this point and tensions were high.
The Quartermaster, the one time I heard him speak was trying to get someone arrested for breaking a window, just after I was hearing reports of the lack of supplies. In a fit of desperation and authority (Playing an officer here), I gave him an order in an aggressive and authoritative tone:
2ndLt Calum ‘Rock’ McDonald [Req (SO)] says, “Either do your fucking job, and ignore that window, or I will get your ass in brig for NOD”
In my view, this was a fairly standard roleplay response. I was not playing a kind officer to someone who from what I heard ignored supplying the marines, they needed to be disciplined and face reality of “don’t accomplish the task we need? then you’re going to get the stick”. This was the only threat I ever made during that round, and in kind I received insults back. As a result I told the CMP to go and arrest the QM for DASO, officer issued arrest so it was perfectly legal while also making sense since this is an senior NCO insulting command.
I want to emphasize that I had no intention of viewing this as an OOC issue, this was an issue between the two characters which I was fine with.
What would transpire is I would get pinged by Google for “screaming at the QM like that is crossing the line on toxicity”. I have no issue with the other player at all from this mind you, at the end of the day its a roleplay game, I acted as any officer would when they are up shit creek with no paddle and they acted as their character would. I made one threat to that person, with all the gravity of the situation in my mind. This was very much an In-character issue in my mind, that did not need staff intervention in the first place. I was not “IC Backseating” as referenced in the ticket, or trying to be malicious to the player. I wanted the marines to come out with a win at best, survive at worst.
I also hope the other player, if they did get a warning for their toxicity that it would removed as well because again, this was all an IC issue that had needless intervention.
