I had this idea in a different thread, I think it’s soulful, allow marines to manifest as a ghostly apparition that only a single person can see, and chat with them, a few concerns this might bring up
obviously, we would need to cut down on any metacomming, maybe a seperat admin channel that only has the memorial ghosts posted to easily filter them
Make it so only one person sees the ghost, it’s technically a non canon thing that the ship shrinks waive away as PTSD, the ship is not canonically haunted. The ghosts only being able seen by one marine at a time could be waived on halloween because spooky.
The ghosts should see a unique indicator for the person that put their ID tag up, and maybe the single person they’ve spent the longest time around that round, maybe, if it’s possible.
Ghosts killed by mortar/cas/ob should be able to haunt their killer en mass, taunting and laughing at them until they go insane (not enough to grief unless RP’d well). Maybe this could also happen if a squad leader loses every marine in their squad.
would be a problem with the fact most people who even bother with placing dogtags at memorial in the first place, keep them stacked, dedicated corpsman can have more that 15 dogtags on him by the time operation is over. imagine then 15 people talking in your head all at once or taking turns to speak. all in all though I like the idea, good adition to to increase immersion and RP potential, just need some workaround for sure
Medic walks into memorial, places medallions and then has a manic PTSD episode and descends into an anxiety-attack induced madness as the wave of sorrow and misery they experienced, the trauma and despair witnessed and racked up over the past 3 hours all come flooding back at once and 25 ghosts are suddenly there christening you with the festered salt of dchat all at once
yeah i have the same issue with some videos. it’s a firefox thing apparantly.
this one should load however; it’s an implementation of mesnomer’s idea they posted on the PR itself where you get to meet your squad for one last time.
