Many times now I, as a marine, came around a pyloned comm tower and took some time to find it. Not too long, I just need to look for the source of light, but its not instant.
As a xeno I’ve even seen others xenos miss the pylon entirely and try to cluster again the comm tower.
The main reason for this is because the layer of the pylon sits on is behind many things. I think some xenos even know and abuse this to the best of their capacity to hinder marines.
TL;DR Make the pylon layer above most cover. It hinders both marines(mostly) and xenos for no good reason.
Please. Alter the Pylon layer this is ridiculous. Marines coming here would most times be throwing flares all around. Only a few times would an IO or Scout risk coming to a secondary comms.
Even as xeno here I only knew it was pyloned because of Comms.
