Please make the L44 M37A2 scabbard useful.

This shotgun scabbard takes your whole backpack slot already, why can’t it fit shotguns with stocks? Could we not get a shotgun scabbard that allows for more versatile use of shotguns in fights in exchange of the CRIPPLING lack of inventory slots?

It would be great if a new scabbard was introduced in place of this hunk of leather, one that can carry most shotguns with medium to high size (if not stock + angular grip, the stock plus the other attachments that do not increase size). Currently, all it does it help a (little tiny queeny) managing your guns around- but it’s such a huge sacrifice for a lackluster use. It doesn’t even have to hold shells, that’s a trade-off I can accept…

It doesn’t sacrifice anything if you’re taking 2 guns. It just makes it easier since your shotgun will always go in your back slot when you press E, and your main gun (or magharnned gun) will always go in armor slot.

it’s a neutral trade that makes gun management easier (which can improve gamefeel).

I cannot fathom, however, how gamefeel is improved by this equipment. Lacking a backpack, you see, to store useful items like grenade packs, the Motion Detector, extra ammo, materials, turrets, etcetera makes it so much harder to manage your loadout; who in their right mind would choose this scabbard? A Combat Technician, an IO, a Weapons Specialist and the majority of the Marines itself do not get benefits at all.

By taking two guns: a shotgun and another weapon, I sacrifice backpack slots, like satchels who also have a great value in gamefeel due their innate function of quickly checking and manipulating items inside. Would it not be much more viable to simply use the M39 belt instead? The M39 has range, can shred enemies and will also have the same “gamefeel”, all the while also being able to carry two extra magazines. Why can’t the shotgun, that is arguably a support gun due its lack of range and hard to capitalize utility. It sounds like a great idea to give the scabbard the ability to at least put in stocks.

One of the biggest drawbacks that make shotguns not a primary firearm option, to me, is the fact that it’s not useful getting closer to xenos. It would make sense to carry something else, say the M39 to close that gap, but then again: why not go further and allow marines to choose to carry the shotgun and another main gun, like the M4A1? You’re already exchanging the backpack and a pouch to carry slugs, and lacking a stock makes it less precise.

No one ever uses the scabbard, I don’t see how this is a fun solution in any way.

The scabbard dramatically decreases the delay on firing and two handing your weapon. With an angled grip, you can instantly two hand your weapon with a scabbard, as opposed to the slight delay without a scabbard.
The scabbard actually has an upside. Also if looks cool and is soul. Fin.

Not every piece of equipment needs to be optimized for every role. The scabbard is useful for PFCs and that’s good enough. It helps weapon management if you decide to take a m37 or a tac shotgun and that’s good enough

In testing, I don’t experience any difference between the two. Although, the sound effect does make it easier to time your wield.

The scabbard is just an alternative to storing a shotgun in backslot so it is almost no different from storing it in backslot normally.

But yeah just take the loadout you find is fun, scabbard is fine for PFC builds.

A stock is not necessary for the shotgun.

I can’t even find any c*de that might be responsible for wield delay with scabbard, lol

Yep, it’s pretty good as it is: convenience + style, everything you could wish for

Here's my scabbard medic build

As others have said the purpose of the scabbard is equipment management. It means your secondary (shotgun) is always shift+e and not just e*. I wish there was a similar system for pistols since they annoyingly never go where I want them to with the pouch holster unless I have a belt that doesn’t fit them

I think it wouldn’t hurt to give the scabbard a small pouch that can hold two handfulls of shells, also adding a folding stock for the m37 which can fit in the scabbard when folded might be a good compromise here

After doing my own testing, it does seem I was wrong, and it doesn’t actually make it faster. It seems the sound effect was just placebo after all. My fault for spreading misinformation, however I think my point still stands.
Having a shotgun on your back without a scabbard is ugly, having one on looks cool. If that’s enough to stop people wearing helmets, then its enough to vend an extra piece of gear.
