Another game I play recently added different color hue’s for people that are color blind or the green hurts their eyes. In real life there is different types of NVGs at least having alternates wouldn’t be a bad thing.
(I used to play a bunch of Insurgency Sandstorm and I was an Amber NVG enjoyer)
I hated the green, the options for more is nice, NVG’s aren’t supposed to be like thermals, so I don’t understand the issue.
The are currently color hue options in, hilariously enough, your character preferences. The option is sort of in the middle on the bottom, and changing it mid round will change your NVG colors mid round, so go FTL or I/O and spend a few minutes flipping through the colors in your prefs!
Then settle on the orange hue, because it’s far, far more easily readable than any other option, and looks cool as fuck.
I think it’d be nice to make NVG optics more like spotter sights for your limited view range by eliminating the filter, but at the same time, it’s a lot of sovl, and the orange saves it
Wait until he finds out how real NVGs work….
You provide zero explanation why it should be nerfed or why it should be removed completely.
At this point you are not bringing anything to the table outside of bringing a raw-idea. If you don’t like it as quoted above, change the color or better yet, don’t use it. Armor comes with a flashlight, your gun can have one and if you sacrifice a pocket maybe you can get more flashlights there. Or if you hate the idea completely just go with Xeno.
Night vision comes with color and depending on the type (military/civilian) it can have better or worse quality but alas, provide constructive ideas not just ‘remove X or nerf it’
And how they work is like this:
Light comes in, gets amplified and turned into lots of electrons, electrons hit a phosphor screen which glows and then that gets focused into the eyepiece you use, turning 1 photon into many electrons that stimulate the production of many photons.
The type of phosphor used changes the color, and the type of phosphor traditionally used glows green, but more modern NVG’s use a phosphor that glows white.
There are also cmos and metamaterial nvg’s, and thermals. Thermals work on a different wavelength of light (mid-wave infrared and long-wave infrared, rather than near-infrared) than the cmos/phosphor nvg’s do. Metamaterial spookgoggles can maybe work on all of these wavelengths through the magic of incomprehensible geometry, but they’re just lab science right now.
I dont think CM is using “modern gear”, always thought of it as using retro-modern stuff, think Vietnam war. Makes sense why we have metal armor or Vietnam era looking uniforms, that a bunch of our stuff looks like it came from future weapons from the 80s and 90s than the 2020s depiction of whatever we got going on.
NVGs from that time were of a lot of colors so it makes sense to be able to swap colors anyways, first ones were actually Blue and Red. Not sure about the rest of the colors but hey- its a game right, and not everything has to be 100% accurate or neutered in balance in order for it to be a fun cool addition.
I’m fine with the different colors, but IMO it still seems too dark, I wish I could make the screen a bit brighter. I chose the white NVGs thinking it’d help but it’s still not what I’m expecting
remind me to not play IO and be sleep deprived.
the result is poorly thought out ideas lmao
