Description of the incident:

Rule 3: Community Expectations - Don’t be a dick.

Evidence:

In this round, I am playing as the Scout Charlie Specialist. Jane ‘JJ’ Jacobson is playing as the Bravo SL.

During a small assault in the western part of medbay, I uncloak and get ready to prime my grenade. Shortly thereafter, I receive a message that my programming does not allow this. Confused, I go out in LOOC, when suddenly the grenade explodes in my hands. This knocks out some of the bravo squad and kills me, however all of the squad survives. When the Bravo SL and squad is pulling the wounded out, the Bravo SL specifically decides that I must be left behind, presumably to perma on the battlefield, and the rest of the squad leaves me there, essentially stranded until I am later recovered by a passerby rifleman unrelated and unknowing to the incident.

Overall. I am honestly disappointed. There are many times were FF situations occur, including accidents. While I understand that Jane was unable to decipher if my intentions were to grief or not. There were many better ways to handle this, most notably reviving me and cuffing or asking why I did that. While it is possible I may be biased in my point of view knowing it was an accident, I believe using the authority the SL role has to allow someone to perma as a sort of vigilante justice is not very cool, especially considering the other ways this could have been navigated, and makes me worry for future rounds wherein less skilled people/genuine accidents will be round removed for accidents through these actions. I believe it okay to hold personal grudges against others for actions, I feel like Jane has crossed a line encouraging others to do it for this singular instance of action.

During the round I did make an ahelp about this, but recieved no knowledge if this was processed or not, thus this player report.

Hello

I play Jane JJ Jacobson and I’ll summarize what happened in my PoV.

Firstly I didn’t even realize it was you, scout armor doesn’t really offer a way for people at a quick glance go “hey I know him he’s John Marine.” Anyways the battle was intense during the Solaris Ridge round and we were held up in that storage section by Medbay as mentioned. I hear the grenade prime sound and a follow up realization of “uh did anyone throw it?” Only to be met with a blinding light and deaf ears. I wake to see about 3 or 4 bodies or so laying around and I see Scout dead. Annoyed I along with the other marines vacate the storage room to heal our wounds. Despite me being deaf I did mention to leave Scout behind because it’s quite annoying but Wayne did get recovered shortly after despite my bitching and got pulled back to safety with Xenomorphs capturing the storage shed shortly after.

I’m sorry I hurt your feelings but once Wayne got pulled back to safety and probably recovered, I never saw him again throughout the round and no point he confronted me about it in a LOOC sense. At that time I didn’t know who you were and didn’t care for it because I was more focused on the round rather than dealing with bald marines throwing bad grenades (which happened throughout the round).

If any questions pop up I’ll answer them to the best of my ability.

Thanks.

But the thing for me is that - I could have been some random ass rifleman who freshly installed the game, not knowing the controls and such. The way you handled this situation - commanding others in your immediate vicinity / those affected to not drag me out. It’s alright but annoying for me to potentially have a spec round to end after that, but imagine if it was some poor new player. That wouldn’t be very fun, would it?

About the confronting part, to be honest there was no realistic way to contact you during the round. Our two jobs are deeply different and I couldn’t find you 5 seconds I got revived, so I just shrugged it off, made the ahelp, and went on with my round.

Hey there, @powerfulxtian! Thank you for your report.

I checked the logs, and I can confirm that Jane Jacobson was a bit out of the line during the round. While I can understand the stress and frustration of being injured by that grenade, I see that this behaviour continued throughout the round. While Marines are not required to listen to their Squad Leaders per server rules, we do not welcome a Squad Leader encouraging someone not to be saved. Therefore, I will be issuing a Note per Rule 3 and will talk to Jane Jacobson’s player about this. Report approved.
