Premium light and heavy armors.

Currently, with points riflemen are allowed to buy two different armors, M4 armor and B12 armor. Both these armors have a “medium” slowdown.

It would be nice if there were options to buy armor with heavy or light slowdown, so marines with spare points but want to be fast or even more protected can buy.

For example, add a “M4-L” armor, that’s as fast as M3-L armor, but is more durable and has better lighting? Make it worth 20 or 30 points and rifleman can buy it?

We don’t need more power creep, these would be instant buys since you can just get everything else from req.

That’s the whole point of the heavy and etcetra armor.
You want very good defense? Take heavy armor.
You want medium defense and low speed? Buy B12 or M4, something around that.
You want medium defense and medium speed? Take the medium armor.
You want be fast asf? Take the light armor.

Right now I’d say the armors are good as they are, B12 and M4 are okay, I don’t think we need even more armor for points, since it’s just basically making armor better with no drawbacks. Points for riflemen aren’t THAT valuable because most of their equipment can be gotten from a good SL or from requisitions. It’s literally just a win-win situation.

b12 and m4 both already exist, this would be a sidegrade to those.

I’ve always enjoyed the long-term concepts that have been flouted of a modular armour system wherein individual marines are given the leeway to customise their armour to suit their purposes.

Personally, I don’t think Marines need more custom armour options, light armour is already seen as the best armour to use, so adding a light armour +++ option is going to likely become a dominate item.

I can imagine the pve modular armour system working.

it won’t really be ‘broken’ to take off your arm and leg parts because;

A: once your hand takes enough damage, damage trickles through to your arm and normally gets reduced by armour.

B:xenos would aim for exposed parts arms&legs to get easy fracs & Ib’s

C: you are MUCH more likely to get hit by rifle bullets in the arms and legs when someone aims chest thus getting instant fracs

Speed is king.

Casually spreading missinformation on forums.

Heavy armor has just better bullet and bomb protection and the same speed. Look at: Heavy m3 Armor, is it in a good place, can we add or change something about it to make it "better"? - #17 by Cabal

B12 beats every armor available for PFCs with exception of Light Armor. You want to be fast, but still have armor? Light armor. Anything else? B12.

We don’t need new armors, we need old ones reworked and rebalanced.

My bad. I was more keen on getting to the point that we shouldn’t make new “better” armor just for points.
