How do we tell them that I’ll just ban them for bypassing the spirit of the rule…

Seriously though, there are so many good terms that can be used for preds that are usable that I dont foresee any issues. I get the argument of old word better because old and I took it into account.
In the end I just think that this is a change that solves an issue that has been simmering for actual years and moves us towards a slightly higher roleplay standard.

I get that some people feel like I’m needlessly trying to erase server culture, I promise that I’m not.
I really did take server culture into account but I dont think that calling preds jamaicans is an essential pillar of server culture. I think its just something that people liked because it was kinda silly.

Xenos have settled into calling them headhunters. Marine side could also just call them headhunters. In terms of getting people to know what you’re talking about, it seems like the simplest solution.

if it’s first contact how do the marines know they headhunt

Because every predator has at least 10 skulls strapped across their body in different ways.

The wording in the rules is “Marines are permitted to roleplay “I’ve heard stories and/or legends” in regards to Predators, but metagaming knowing everything about them is a violation. Nicknames that are realistic are acceptable.” - I think it’s fair that a marine could have heard stories/legends that they headhunt. I dunno. Staff can certainly weigh in if they want to.

Kinda weird we are not supposed to know they exist when in predator 2 one jsut showed up in the middle of new york city and made no attmept to keep itself hidden. From memory their was like 20 wittness who lived and even recorded fottage I think.

what corny dork is calling them “spectres, boogeyman, ghost, or shadow”

I usually call them clickers or cloakers. The jamaican thing is long overdue imo

EDIT: also like others have said, split lips and squid face are awesome, also I unironically like dreadlocks

I live in a blue state and have seen crunchy granola moms and paleo dudes with dreads. I assure you that “Dreads” is neither racialized, nor is calling the former “monsters” in poor taste. The only issue I see is that I’m pretty sure I saw one of these guys trying to figure out the OD threshold on oxycodone on Solaris last round.

In Eastern Europe (or I just think that subjectively due to environment I have been living) “Dreadlocks” are exclusively associated with black people and/or raggae musicians. Commonly as a “dirty” hairstyle due to simillarity to plica.

Normalise calling predators:

Canibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers.

what they said ^^^ Just humanoid is 10x better than Jamaican

I think this is the time to start coming up with newer, more refreshing nicknames.

Cloak monkeys. Night screechers. Buttfaces. Buttface Demons. Night Elves. Larpers. Tikis. Sasukes.

I like Sasukes.

“Command we seem to have a group of colonists with spears and swords running around attacking our marines. The boys are calling them Sasukes. Be advised they happen to have gotten their hands on cloaking devices.”

Yo… why you bringing race into this bro?
We’re trying to move away from race nicknames. Tikis are statues of little demons.
Cloak monkeys… what are you thinking?
I’m not catching strays for this.
