Why is RO/Quartermaster not able to access CIC consoles anymore (not including overwatch)? Cant load OBs too.
Its just odd that a dept head doesnt have the skills or access to run the ship.

The Quartermaster is a Non-Commissioned Officer. They do not have the training to operate the Overwatch console.

Long time no see…
QM is not a department head anymore, the ASO is the combined Req+Intel department head. That’s why.
Ought to tie overwatch access to your ID and not skills
It’s not like watching a TV screen is a skill intensive task.
RO could never load the OB, even when they were around.
Also when did QM lose OW access? I was playing two weeks a go, ran up to the CIC to launch a crate for an SO because it took them 15 minutes to not do it so I did it for them.
QM should keep their OW access mostly because a lot of ASOs don’t know jack all when it comes to req, or SOs don’t even know how to use their own terminals.

im sure i was able to load the OB but maybe im misremembering shit since all of the dept heads had LCDR ranks. (Except CMO at that time?)

RO can overwatch but not operate the CIC bubble/console in the middle.
I think people underestimate how much relevant RO is.
ASO doesnt really do anything when 3 depts are awake and that role kind of killed the “soul” of the game. Instead of having MPs, Riflemen doing req now you barely see one volunteering to get access.
