at 1h you can spend 10(?) intel points to send a working joe to repair the railgun, at 1h30 the railgun will be repaired and now you can use it again.
railgun, for those who don’t remember can fire anywhere (i.e inside caves) causing a big explosion like a CAS missile but the computer can only see floors and walls and not benos.
this is one of the ideas to fix the current state of caveslop CM.
I am interested in the idea. The issue I see is the possible lack of a Working Joe to repair. In the event of no WJ present can an MT or person with sufficient skill repair the cannon.
I think it should be re added but maybe tone down the lethality and up the demo force/AoE so its more about clearing room in the caves to push. As Zenith said getting killed with no counterplay is just not fun
This but actually. A projectile would be a lot more interesting to deal with than funny 9 dots current trapper has, with the bonus of sniping poor privates from the top floor of an apartment building.
Sounds very annoying as xeno, marines already have some very strong tools to deal with defences in caves (HEDP and other explosives!!!). I think it would be quite awful having to deal with a railgun which you are unable to counterplay in any ways
I liked the railgun, it was a somewhat engaging and direct way for CIC to have some “direct interaction” with the marines beyond the rare OB. (which is more of a JTAC thing, all SO does is click a button and no real input beyond that unless you’re micro managing).
That being said, the marines have an extensive and ever-increasing list of tools to clear structures, while Xenomorph building is largely unchanged (Clear Walls still in the game with no use all these years later) and is still a carpal tunnel simulator (Clicking every tile to put down fast resin, rather than not having an option to walk over them like a super slow overweight slug leaving a trail)
This could potentially be a thing down the road, but it risks compounding the power creep against Xeno structures if implemented as is.
