The obvious question is… why? Transporting crates around the Almayer is a pain in the ass and the powerloader only lets you take 2 at a time and is very slow. Cargo is very far away from the dropship pads. The whole game is set up to incentivize Cargo to use the drop-pods instead of actually putting stuff in the dropship… but why? People talking about moving away from drop-pods talk about things like “putting a chute from cargo to hangar” and it’s just… We already have something purpose built to transport items on the Almayer, but it has been reduced to a prop/joke item. There’s no good reason to not just let cargo use the train.
Though the ship should be remapped so cargo is actually next to the hangar but that’s a discussion for another time.
Am I missing something, or is this just an easy fix that could be done to make cargo more fun than mindlessly teleporting crates to FOB?
Slightly unrelated but yeah, I would completely accept a removal of the magic crate dropper in exchange for actual logistics movement like ive heard whispered about in regards to The Plan ™. Would be peak
Sounds like something that can aid in making MT/CE more unique and interesting to play. I’d be extra in favour if the use could be slightly expanded. Transporting xeno/marine bodies, something to make it the drone tasks more engaging or easier. Now I’m just thinking about hearses and old timey prisoner transportation. When I have used them in the past I have just gotten stuck in doors like a bozo though.
I’d love to see the cargo tugs fixed. Words cannot express the disappointment I felt when I worked so hard to bring a cargo tug from mid-deck to req only for it not to work, especially since I had to transport 3 crates at the same time.
I was robbed of my airport worker roleplay to deliver chutes.
