Your character name:
TAG
Accused BYOND key:
Biolock
Accused character name:
Bhu’ja Djar’ce
What rule(s) were broken?:
Honour Code - welfare of prey
Description of the incident:
Was warrior, came through the south west side of Medbay on Kutjevo to cross the river to flank marines that were directly west of Medbay. Came across scout spec and two others, scout spec fired a shot at a cloaked pred, I paused because I thought they were having some sort of fight, the pred fled as it was on fire and scout spec attacked me instead with impact rounds, there was a scuffle and I perished.
After which, the predator that was attacked (I presume) by the scout spec attempted to recover their body for them. As the pred wasn’t in an active confrontation with the scout spec, (they were cloaked, not revealed and in no way duelling or fighting when I arrived), I believe it breaks the honour code to retrieve someone, especially when it comes to the “welfare of prey” section.
The scout spec would have surely been rounded ended if the pred had not intervened and they had no reason to retrieve them and bring them back to the marines. You can’t call it a duel or a hunt if you get shot once and flee whilst cloaked.
"The welfare of prey
You are forbidden to save any prey that you are hunting, unless you are actively engaging them (E.g In combat with each other.). If the other faction intervenes when you are actively engaged, you may save your prey and bring them to a safe location on the hunting grounds to continue the hunt. You may save any prey you are hunting if you breach the honor code while actively engaging them and return them to their defenses/Faction."
Evidence:
Logs will need to be pulled of the player retrieving the spec as well as the combat logs for the interactions.
On a cursory glance (tired) I’m willing to accept all the events that happened as you said them. A few details which are not included or are misrepresented in this post through no fault of your own are:
First and foremost, I was performing gear recovery, which brought me to the scout. I didn’t know exactly what the scout had at the time, but the scout ultimately had a mask that belonged to a deceased predator.
When I arrived at the body I began searching for gear on them which belonged to the predator faction, but was attacked in short order by some nearby xenos.
I tried to talk to them to explain that I was doing gear recovery, but any time I came anywhere near them (the xenos, not just the scout’s body) they would immediately pounce/ grab me.
I ultimately decided to grab the body and run with it so that I could figure out exactly what pred loot it had on it.
I dragged it southward, away from the xenos and began searching the body. After a bit of time a small detachment of marines arrived at my location. I believe it is important to emphasize that I did not drag the body to the marines, but that the marines came to me, it’s likely that someone watching a helmet cam reported it, but I can only speculate since I’m not gonna do a log-dive for a report against me.
Once I had the gear they stole, I cloaked and left.
I do not believe my actions constituted an honor code rulebreak. Did my actions lead to the recovery of a scout that otherwise wouldn’t have been recovered? Maybe, but that’s speculative as well. Even if my actions did indeed lead to the scout’s recovery, I did not move the body with the intention of ‘saving’ it, and the resulting recovery of the body does not constitute an Honor Code violation as far as I am aware.
The only viable alternative to the actions I took was to let the body sit until it became unrevivable. That is certainly an option, but it could have also led to a number of other round-impacting events, and requires speculation on the round in a certain light that doesn’t necessarily hold up to scrutiny. Ultimately I do not believe I broke the letter of the Honor Code nor the spirit of the whitelist, in-spite of the accusation.
In fact, the alternative would have been light metagaming: relying on a game-mechanic in order to make a roleplay decision. That is, of course, not a punishable form of metagaming, but the whitelists are to adhere to higher levels of roleplay than the rest of the server.

Biolock is engaged by the Scout, who I can confirm is carrying Predator gear (logs for this posted later)

ATTACK
ATTACK: /(Johanna J. Jaakari) shot Biolock/(Elite Bhu’ja Djar’ce) with A19 high velocity incendiary bullet in Kutjevo - Scrubland (73,95,2).
Its hard to tell, but I am going to assume that Biolock disengages. Then the scout is lunged and grabbed by TAG. At this point, another marine seems to directly shoot at the Specialist and kills them while they are lunge stunned.

Biolock tries to get the body of the scout, and tries to communicate to the xenos regarding this, but the xenos ignore Biolock and attack them.
The body of the scout was moved due to xenos guarding the body despite attempts to parley with them to simply retrieve gear. Therefore they grabbed the body and moved to a safer location to take the gear without issue.
This report is denied. The predator did not act outside of Honor Code, whether regarding welfare of prey or gear retrieval.
