Remove from SOP the requirement for MPs to wear their headgear.

This specifically targets the portion of SOP, which MPs are obligated to follow within rules - that forbids MP from wearing no headgear or other cosmetic headgear if they so desire. “MP’s must always use their department-specific headgear.”

Why does this exist? It’s been a thing for years, and when I regularly played MP this was one of the things that bothered me most. I didn’t like it, I didn’t know a single other person who played MP who liked it. I didn’t see any other players who either didn’t care in general what MPs wore on their head or actively didn’t like it. It serves no purpose, I don’t think MP berets even have an armor value anymore.

As MP is nominally a roleplay role, (at least it should be) I think allowing them to at the very least not wear their helmet or a headband instead is perfectly reasonable. We don’t even force squad leaders to wear their helmets, and them not wearing them is actively detrimental to the round.

I really do genuinely think it should just be removed from the SOP, there really is no justification I can think of to have it.

You don’t have to wear head gear, but if you do, it has to be MP related. It’s poorly worded.

I asked staff if they could change it about half a year ago but then one of them got mouthy and insulted people’s reading comprehension because they didn’t properly understand that line.

As above, you do not have to wear headgear as an MP.

But if you -do- wear headgear it has to be MP headgear

Same reason as regular cops. You don’t want your cops to go around with a yankee on his head.
