Indeed you did.
My original proposal remains to simply make it that the Queen, and Queen alone, dictates if the hive commences Hijack or not. They’ve earned the right since by that point the Xenos have won planet side.
I want it to be a hive-wide vote (they are a hivemind arent they), where marines get a tiebreaker voice if neither side wins majority
Then big, useless, completly worthless NO from me. Either both sides get to choose, or nobody gets to choose.
A feature that would practically never be used, unless there is about 10, or less xenos left and no T3s. In which case round would end in 5 minutes after DS crashing.
They might just as well stand on the landing pad and all get gibbed by hijacked dropship, thus finally ending the round. It is already xeno minor, they already won. Same results.
So instead of adding even a single line of code: Let all xenos stand on the landing pad after hacking the console.
- reactors are online
- APC is online
- fuel cells are full
- requires “fuel pumps” from the rest of the ship, so steam power?
new SD is stupid - even a method to override lifeboat “safeties” to skip the fueling requirement would 1) make sense and 2) shift focus away from crapboat holds. then again even groundside power makes zero goddamned sense - “geothermal” generators needing fuel cells that dont charge themselves

I don’t. I want to give everyone a vote, observers, marines, xenoes, third parties, literally the entire server should be allowed to weigh in on it.
I can’t really get behind the logic that the entire server, including deadchat of all things, to have to power to chose what the xenoes are gonna do. Especially when xenoes are ALWAYS gonna be the minority faction in the vote. Its litterary the example of 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what to eat.

By giving marines the ability to force no hijack, you still have one man saying “no, you are not allowed to do so” to an enemy force, just because you want them to have a say in it. Especially when they are the losers of the engagement.
Marines should have an option to say “no” to “no hijack”. By redeploying. If you don’t wanna to redeploy, then accept xenos not wanting to hijack.

I don’t get it. Majority voting something against minority will is “not the right thing to do”, but Queen and Queen alone, one player, can decide something against the will of other xenos, or other marines, or ghost, or all of them, then it is fine?
This is called “player control” and this is the cornerstone of many roleplaying games including vanilla SS. SS13 Captain alone can choose when to call the shuttle, just for example. This is nothing new. This is not a democracy, especially xenos are not a democracy.

You can vote for a new map, both marines and xenos are forced to play by what has been choosen via democratic vote.
Yeah, captain can call the shuttle, but others can recall it and if he called it for no reason, they will recall it.
IC xenos are not a democracy, OOC xenos are regular ass dudes. Elder Lurker BB-1Q player is no more important than PVT Baldo McBald.
CO’s need a fricking whitelist to permanently remove a guy from a round, that how much “player control” there is now, exactly?
Now random ass Queen can decide for entire server, something only admemes can. Either both sides can, or neither of them should.
Hiljack has the purpose of rewarding xenos for the victory groundside, as they can now kill the rest of enemy gamers that survived groundside and shipside crew
So I don’t think anyone else really is entitled to have a choice on the matter since they LOST

They’re choosing what the entire server is going to do, which is either play hijack or end the round, and with the amount of people in dchat during hijack I think they should get to vote on whether or not they want to wait another 20 minutes to play again.

Especially when xenoes are ALWAYS gonna be the minority faction in the vote. Its litterary the example of 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what to eat.
You say this like every xeno always wants to play hijack (and every marine doesn’t), but this just isn’t true, there is always a fair few people ghosting on the DS, and some who stay (like me) would still rather we didn’t play it. If you have 60 wolves, 30 sheep, and 40 onlookers (who get a vote), with all three having become omnivores all with their own personal preferences, the original analogy kindof falls apart.
So how I imagine this now (I think I already proposed a way to do this, but it was a while ago):
Queen gets a new option when hijacking, to lock the ship down forever. If she chooses so, marines get a message “connection to dropship lost blah blah blah FTL jump is now available” or something. Then they have two options. Either wait three minutes of mandatory RP until round ends, or choose new primary LZ for redeployment (this cancels round end) If marines don’t redeploy anyway for some reason, queen can just call the ship down from new LZ, then she can just lock it too, and then round instantly ends.
Vote is a dumb idea, marines should not have a say because they lost, ghost should not have a say because they are dead (aka they lost), regular xenos should not have a say because they are supposed to do what Queen says anyway. If Queen can solo decide to do hydro hive (by that choosing what the entire server is going to do, not just xenos), there is no reason to not let her to decide if she wanna hijack or not.
the ONLY time there is a popular vote is map picks. But when ANYTHING else happens ingame its all essentially decided by either command or the queen. Should we siege fob for an hour? Queen decides. Should we hydrohive/memehive? Queen decides. Should we backdoor and sneak hijack? Queen decides.
Same for marines as well. Dual drop? aCO decides. Fallback to fob? aCO decides. Evac? aCO yet again. And all of these matter a LOT more, and carry on a LOT more play time. So no, unless its a map vote(Or a “dwid ywou wike mwy ewent?” vote), keep the voting system out of the game.

I like the idea and the philosophy behind this
Seems like a no-brainer approve to me.
i like hijack
I too can like it. But not always is it fun in my opinion. Making it more rare through options like skipping it, could make it more enjoyable again.
Hijack shouldnt be optional, just get rid of it. Being optional it just encurages meta early evac or xenos just getting to kill the ship rpers. Neither is a fun fight.
+1
Eh, making it rarer is a good enough fix for it now. since now you can lose groundside, do shipside RP, then metafear the funny xenoes MAYBE hijacking you.
You could also remove a lot of the handholding xenoes get during hijack, like larva surge and that, as it is an optional thing now.
I feel I’ve written this before but you have stuck the needle with a hammer.
The mere presence of evac encourages gameplay aspects I think are negative to the experience. It encourages Marines to evacuate early to preserve their strength and firepower for evac, and it encourages Aliens to be very conservative with attacking the FOB to ensure they don’t lose too many sisters for hijack.
We don’t get Marines desperately holding the FOB to the last second, we don’t get the hive throwing everything it has to break the back of the Marines. We get careful and timid sieges.
Hijack as an uncommon admin event >>>>
