Remove pred traps from LV.

There is no point for them to be freely available to marines. These are essentially kept just for some select people who know how they work to use them to get free kills with zero counterplay beyond walking around it. God forbid you don’t notice it - you are guaranteed dead ESPECIALLY if the scout loots them.

If Marines get these traps off a dead pred I am completely fine with it - but why should Marines get access to this blatantly broken tool? Why should I bother myself with getting other people to melt these fucking traps every time we play LV, which is at this point 40% of CM rounds by the way?

The map was just nerfed in marines’ and survs’ favour, reducing total weedable area on the colony, why wasn’t marine side nerfed in any way to compensate?

Context: OP died in round 24383 (last round) to a pred trap placed by a marine

How did you guys not melt them in like the half hour you had before marines could even show up, fog disperse, and marines to push to the funny pred temple?

Like if they were just chilling on the LZ I would get it but a lot of things have to not happen for them to have access to them.

Having good mapspawn loot (thermals, sentry/tesla spawns, 200x metal crates, DB shotguns, pred traps) that xenos need to go out of their way to melt (and it’s quite a chore doing so) kinda sucks, especially when a marine getting their hands on it can allow them to rack up a significant number of kills/have a good advantage against xenos.

It becomes a chore every round that you NEED to melt it otherwise you’re practically throwing away xeno lives when John Robusto will inevitably acquire thermals/pred trap/a tac shotty and frag 5 xenos with it while also giving perfect info to command about xeno numbers/castes on the frontlines by using binos.

I’d honestly prefer if such items were either made unmeltable or removed/weakened so that xenos don’t need to preform mind numbing gameplay. Imagine if all colony APCs started with full power and none started broken so that xenos were forced to slash APCs for the first 25 minutes of the round otherwise every area is lit up and marines can shock any doors, that would SUCK.

Literally didn’t happen. But curiously enough that “ided” nerfs happen quite often when marines do ask for them.

God forbid I join later than anyone else or forget about them. Guess if I forget about something like that I deserve to just die with zero counterplay.

I too, believe we should get rid of items exclusive to a map’s setting.

yeah agreed the traps should just be anchored and immovable like with all the other pred shit including a broken hpc cannon

Remove all mapspawn loot - Now sit and afk on hive for 25-30 minutes.
Someone make a post about not having anything to do as Xeno for 30 minutes

No one should have to bother with the tediousness of melting these every single round. Since the game is balanced around the assumption that xenos do melt it, it should simply be removed as a QOL change. For all maps.

The wonderful enjoyable activity of melting traps takes like 30 seconds, not 30 minutes. So much fun, what would we ever do without it.

Ah yes, the incredibly amazing and engaging gameplay of going drone to melt pred shit. Where could we be without it on LV for 30 minutes before fog drops.

My issue isn’t with meta loot itself. I would be totally fine with pred traps being replaced with thermals on lv. Compared to nvg, the clownish nature of pred trap when combined with fire is so much worse than marines with thermals, I’d rather deal with clowns rushing thermals every round then being a menace in huge unweeedable spaces with no walls as they rush sensor tower for the 9000000th time this week.

I constantly see young xenos get fucked by the trap that most players don’t know is there, don’t know is meltable, and don’t know that it kills you by fire resist stun if you try to resist out of it while on fire. This is a mechanic that is never explained to anyone and most people don’t know about it, since it’s not readily available to them as marines. You may tell people “melt pred trap” or “scout has pred traps” or “their flamer has pred traps”, but they don’t know what it is, what it looks like, or what it does.

You wanna know why? Because it’s a Pred WL item. And not only it is a WL item, it’s also an item that exists in an unbroken state on LV for no reason, unlike every other item on LV. Maybe it should be replaced with actual pred weapons that may deal upwards of a hundred damage to a Warrior per hit so a survsynth could kill the entire hive with a glaive or a combistick.

At least when a marine is shooting at you into the darkness with thermals you know exactly what is happening. Most xeno players do not listen to what is being told to them, so the only way for them to figure out what a “pred trap” is, is for me to copypaste the entire “pred trap” cm ss13 wiki page for them (doesn’t exist, by the way) and hope that a lone ravager isn’t going to walk into a trap that is invisible unless you have high gamma or are actively paying attention to where you step.

Provide ONE (1) good point as to why Marines should be able to get access to pred traps without pred trap + fire combo being nerfed. Reading all this slop in my thread has been tiresome.

I still need to remove the thermals from Kutjevo and the RNG spawners. “”“meta loot”“” where the survivors just rush the same place before the xenos can evolve is not a rewarding mechanic.
