Optics in general are dumb. When’s the last time you saw someone use NVGs?

NVGs becoming optics was an overall nerf, not a buff imo. Switching between medic and NVG optic is a pain in the ass, and losing the ability to easily recharge sucks. I’d rather they become “”“breakable”“” again. So many marines just have fake drip NVGs anyways, so you have like 80 decoy marines.

maybe we should just remove NVG from xenos & marines and the only people that have it are predators and synths

NVG optics was one of the biggest stealth nerfs I’ve seen. Not only that but the changes to recharging optics was also horrible.

Recharging it is a pain.
Also, it forces me to play IO with a god damn helmet.
I’m trying to die as fast as possible, dammit.

I agree, remove the Squad Optic since we see squads even without it - it literally just eats an optic slot preventing ballers from packing a med and welding optic on squaddie helmets

like just look at the helmet bro easy

if you arent wearing a helmet? BE

Somewhere in the galaxy, on the surface of some backwater colony, a force recon sergeant fixes a centuries-old AN/PVS-31A with an Enhanced Clip-On Thermal Imager to an NVG mount he specifically machined to fit on his helmet. “You want logistics, join the army. Marines make do” is what he always said on the topic of his night vision when compared to the standard-issue optics. This ancient technology reigns supreme over late 22nd century night vision - it allows extraordinary vision in the dark and though magnified optics, and even highlights heat signatures to allow the user to very easily spot otherwise-hidden targets. On top of all that, the batteries are tiny, common, easily replaceable, and last orders of magnitude more than today’s night vision, which can only be turned on for minutes before having to be recharged at a large, heavy industrial recharger used to charge defibrillators and power cells. One imaginative historian presented an outlandish claim a few years ago: that such devices were conjured in the height of an ancient human civilization by a mad scientist with unparalleled genius whose name was “Harris” or “Le Harris.” Many have rejected this notion, believing that such technology was developed by aliens - as surely no human could possibly come up with something so advanced over 170 years ago.

I don’t believe the squad optic actually eats up an optic slot. It’s a purely cosmetic optic, so optic slots were designed around the spuad optic ALWAYS being a part of the helmet and always serving no practical use.
