The King is not even guaranteed to end the round, if you get a sub-optimal player who takes control, or they just fumble, they can still die to the Marines.
Also mandatory hijack just adds another 30 minutes as you wrote. However the maintainers have stated they have refused to allow the spawning of a King to skip hijack. Personally, I felt if the Xenos need to spawn a King to win, they should lose the chance to hijack
However, it would seem that giving the 10 shipside players the chance to run to a escape pod takes precedent over just ending a round that is already over so the 90 other players can get to playing the game.
Yeah, youâre right the king exists in the paradoxical place of âstrong enough to break the FOB, but also marines have to fight against it somehowâ. Another issue with it is that itâs actually another thing that pushes command to play passive. If command does not drag the round and does anything risky, then theyâre risking just not having the numbers to contest the king later on.
At least, the good thing about the king is that xenos actually have to play actively to get it. While nuke just encourages marine passivity.
Thatâs exactly what Iâm saying though. The only time marines can successfully get a nuke to go off is if they have enough manpower, stims, resources, and a numbers advantage to the point where they could easily win without the nuke.
Of course if they canât hold the comms towers, they wonât be able to push. If they can, they are usually more than capable of wiping the 8 xenos to the remaining 75 marines.
