The Almayer is named after some obscure novel from the 19th century. Therefore, I believe (and believe others will believe) that Gyatt is a far better name for it. This is not a meme.
This would help tie in with the USCMC’s heritage and the USS Gyatt was involved in the Mercury era of the US’s space program. This would be a very appropriate name to honor someone who lost their life in some of the formative years of the early Corps.
Find a ship that aint a destroyer that we could rename this to though I doubt many transport vessels had much more than numbers I am sure you can find something besides we’ve called it the almayer for so long why change now
