It’s more accurate to what it is literally doing, and harkons to the reanimator kit in Aliens: Dark Decent which was similar to a defib in aesthetic but called the Reanimator Kit.
Defib won’t save a dead guy, their heart isn’t fibbin’. But a reanimator kit sounds cooler too
when you get ‘killed’ you’re not dead, you’re in cardiac arrest, and the medics have that set 5~ minutes of time to defibrillate your heart before you go braindead (perma)
the health scanner says as much,
please god do not bring back marines from the dead like zombies i’m going to cry. we are SILLY ENOUGH with chems that can magically heal severe ultrahellfuck burns and gel that melds broken bones together
reanimator kit has a cooler name, and you could argue when the marines were in a ‘coma’ in Aliens: Dark Decent that it is no different to our dying state.
Would you rather:
A. A medic that revives you incorrectly with an incorrect tool
B. A medic reviving you incorrectly but with a scifi named tool so medical nerds don’t get bothered?
when a marine dies it doesn’t mean they’re dead, it means that they’re clincally “dead” aka the heart isn’t beating right or whatever, this is why the marines still have a heartbeat symbol, when they’re perma it means the heart has stopped beating completely.
“lou why do we have a 5 minute clinical death timer then?” because the longer you wait to revive someone the more likely it is they incur brain damage from lack of blood.
