A month ago, if you put 2 rods into an autolathe, you got 1 metal.
Someone changed this, presumably because marines could get tons of metal by dismantling fences. However, it being more efficient to put it in an autolathe was nice efficiency thing that made sense, and it adds a little nuance to playing MT/CE/Engie because you can play smarter.
Instead of changing rods, instead half the recipe for fences- has the same result but makes recycling rods, which really sucks at 4:1, more cool.
Just going to note: on LV-624, west LZ, if xenos didn’t kill it there is an autolathe right there, along with a shit ton of fencing. It would be barely an inconvenience to convert all that fencing, plus more fencing outside the lz, into metal.
Sure, but instead of making rods be worth less metal in the lathe, cut the amount of rods to make/decon a fence in half instead. It accomplishes the same thing, cutting the amount of metal you can convert(planetside) in half.
The lathes also usually aren’t in workable condition by marine landing. These sort of shadow tweaks kind of ask why does an autolathe exist - do you wanna see another immovable POS like an autodoc eating space? Hunter Thompson knows what’s up.
