Making throwing knives completely unusable for everyone else because of “macro/script users” is a shit solution
Want to deal with script kids? Make knives unpickable from the ground for a short time after thrown, i shouldnt have to deal with the problem of my marine having a 1.5s seizure every time i throw two knives using 100% allowed secondary weapon equip + throw binds
idea:
• revert to old behavior
• reduce thrown object damage based on how recently the last throw was
(you can’t put as much power into a throw the quicker you do it)
True, the pickup delay would be a better solution against macro spam

Even worse is that it nerfs throwing all objects in general, not just throwing knives.
I don’t get it either. This is a PR where I’m not even against the idea of a throwing knife nerf, but the implementation is absolutely terrible and shouldn’t be added. It’s like a universal rule with this dev team to just flagrantly ignore every issue ever brought to light by the playerbase and just ram through shitty PR’s absolutely nobody except 2 maintainers even like.
Throwing stuff around fob to clean things up is going to be absolute cancer now.
as I’ve said I usually play absolutely trashed so no wonder I haven’t noticed, but yeah if it screws with req/req crate supply movement groundside that does sound pretty iffy.
Yeah lol the PR applies to every fucking item in the game because coders were literally too incompetent/lazy/both to implement it for knives only.

I brought it up in the PR, but nobody seems to actually give a shit about any player feedback. If you aren’t a maintainer with clout you can basically go fuck yourself with your feedback at this point.
This is the same bullshit that resulted in the click-delay on every single fucking thing you do, too. That came around because of throwing knives also, and made fishing around in toolbelts and packs to grab stuff an absolute asspain forcing you to time clicks without any feedback that you’re on a click delay cooldown.
I would actually rather remove throwing knives entirely and the resultant click delays and throw delays with them. A massive hit to playability and quality of life over something that kills like 1 xeno every 10 rounds.
yeah… the click-delay will probably give me lethal carpal tunnel trying to disassemble the 2 ‘storage solution’ crates as a MT. 10x folded tables + 10x rack parts should probably not take 1m to wrench into metal (inb4 some admin/maint/mentor/mod says “actually its 45s”)

I mean there’s at least three ways to easily solve the issue:
- Revert all the click/throw delays from everything, apply them exclusively to throwing knives
- Revert all the click/throw delays from everything, make throwing knives do no damage to xenos, “it bounces off!”
- Revert all the click/throw delays from everything, reduce the damage throwing knives do
if not for xeno damage sprites, you could literally make throwing knives do 0 damage and people wouldnt notice, let grandpa shoot the damn VC with his stick in the backyard
