Description of the incident:
Summary
I was Charlie Squad Leader. Chen was the CMP. The CMP undressed me, took my helmet and whistle, and put a MP beret on my head. They appeared to have undressed another marine and said they “had good legs”. When I asked for it back, they refused unless “I said please”. They then told me I was “Lame now” when I asked the Captain to intervene.
Detailed Outline
I was buckled into a seat in the Charlie area of the briefing hall, going through my Squad list and preparing fireteams, as what I had setup initially needed to change as our spec (sniper) now had a spotter. The captain was in their briefing podium and briefing was imminent. While I was focused on fireteam assignments, Chen (the CMP) undressed my helmet and whistle. When I looked at my character I noticed I had a red beret on and was initially confused where my helmet was, as they had run off and I didn’t know where they had gone. I then realized chen had taken them so I asked multiple times for the them back. Eventually Chen started saying “say please”, continually. I kept demanding the whistle, and escalated to a punch when this was ignored. I asked the Captain to intervene, who said I should report it to the CMP, as the Captain didn’t realize Chen was the CMP. Another marine (Bruce ‘Slow Brain’ Chunder) reported to the captain as well: “Sir MP just undressed me and told me i have good legs”. Chen said to me: “You used to be more fun”. When I finally had the gear back, the CMP said to me: “Kolton you’re lame now…”
How it affected my round
Hijinks happen, I get that. But as a SL preparing for briefing, I was at the time preparing my squad fireteams and going through the marines in my squad and preparing my stuff as I always do as SL. Time is precious, and having to deal with this was disruptive and ended up meaning I wasn’t fully prepared going into briefing as a result.
Additionally, I cannot see how it is appropriate for the CMP to be the one who is undressing the marines. And when I made it clear that I did not find it funny - they still continued the hijinks and escalated it. In the end, I decided not to engage with it during the round to cause any further disruption. I don’t think it is appropriate for the CMP to be being immature in briefing, as at the very least it encourages others to do so. This is especially problematic is they are disrupting a Squad Leader at the beginning of a round. It also really destroyed my sense of RP, and it really felt like they were just playing CMP to do whatever they wanted and were not considering how it affected me in the round.
I additionally found the “you used to be more fun” and “you’re lame” to be really unnecessary, feeling like it was dealing with supposed meta between rounds that had nothing to do with the CMPs role. Those felt personally directed at me and had nothing to do with my character.
I would have let this kind of thing slide and be IC if someone was a marine, or even if I was a marine - but given I was a SL and they were the CMP, and combined with the meta comments it felt extremely innappropriate.
