Violation of Event Protocols

Description of the incident:

All Xenos had firearms, from what I could tell they had unlimited ammunition and I think included GL’s and incend. This resulted in chaos. [edit: I am told the ammo was not unlimited, I don’t know the specifics, as I wasn’t a xeno].

My biggest issue was the lack of clear notification that it was going to be a very goofy event.

In my case I perma’d due to heartbreak on the FOB. I had been trying to train two new PVTs in Charlie Squad (I was Charlie SL). This happened within minutes of landing on the FOB. I was then out of play for the entire rest of the round, which lasted nearly an hour. The Admin called a vote about skipping hijack, but then ignored the vote and let hijack continue.

I was told there was blanket approval for these kinds of things as it is halloween, however:

  1. I think for such an event there should be some kind of notification prior to the round starting. It was not clear until significant time had been invested.
  2. It was very unfun as you had extremely tanky xenos with unlimited weapons.

If I had known in advance that it was going to be a completely non-IC event with none of the usual “safety protocols” around events, then I would have skipped the round. Obviously I totally understand some events are just not fun for some, and some events are just goofy and it appears that is the idea behind halloween - but I do think it is very important that be clearly notified to players.

I raised this in chat and was told by the admin that I did not understand event protocols - but I feel like a lot of the event protocols exist to avoid the very issue(s) that happened during this event.

Evidence:

I’m assuming chat log probably not necessary, but I have cached it if it is needed.

this sucked, no two ways around it, my biggest gripe was that it was NOT announced before the round started. if I had known beforehand the disastrous xenos-with-guns shtick was going to be played again I wouldve just skipped it, no harm done, but they waited until the round had started to announce it IC, at which point everyone had committed their time to it.

I also took part of this round and from what i can tell the xeno didn’t have unlimited ammunition. really this issue many of us had with the round was the fact that there was no counterbalance for the USCM, there was nothing we were really able to do to the xenos as they ran up to us and pointblanked us.

i get it was a goofy event and really i have no issues with such things my self but the lack of counterbalance made it really unfun.

That being said we did get marsoc after highjack but it really didn’t fix the fact that we spent 20+ mins to head down only to get wiped out and get sub 40 highjacked.

Sorry this took so long to respond to, I had talked to the admin about it but forgot to reply to this post.
It will not be necessary for admins to always notify of their event prior to roundstart, as that can ruin the surprise of the event. However, the Xenomorphs were a lot stronger than was intended by the eventrunner. I have talked with them about it and in future instances, they should be ran better.
