Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Amelia

What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Amelia is an old model, designed for humanitarian relief and disaster response!
Inspired strongly off of the historic lady pioneer and aviator, Amelia Earhart, Amelia is a synthetic who often finds herself deployed to provide relief to victims of natural disasters, and on the rare occasion conflict!

Despite the high-stress nature of the crises she finds herself in, and the compassion that the victims would surely benefit from, Amelia strikes a slightly off-putting chord. She is very direct and sharp, realistic about what must be done and objective-oriented. This does not prevent her from sharing optimism with the people she works with, however, as she thinks more about the goal and what it can achieve, how assured people are to complete what they must do so as to provide safety for others.

To put it in less complicated terms, she is very task-driven, and only when safety is generally restored does she have a moment to resume her high levels of optimism and small amount of cheer.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

Rank will determine the circles and occupations and skills of the people with whom she will speak, such as a Major being familiar with many commissioned officers and the internal politics between them, whereas a PFC would likely be more focused on squad cohesion and the friends they have amongst the personnel. The former would naturally be concerned with operational efficiency and logistics, and the latter would have a smaller scope on squad objectives and equipment.
All of this is to say that essentially it will depend on the scope of the rank! Amelia, however, is a civilian design and presents quite a wealth of respect and reverence for the military personnel she would interact with.

Amelia’s interests are with meteorology, as it lends itself well to her aviator identity and the crises her design was made for, such as hurricanes! Should she find herself as the pilot of the dropship, for instance,

If I had to give her an advertisement, try “Amelia soars to action, providing care in crises across the world!”

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

I hope to really get an opportunity to shine in a way I’ve seen other synthetics do with their RP! I’ve been inspired for years, and even through a hiatus I haven’t lost my admiration for the whitelist and its folks. If anything, I’ve only come to admire it more!

To be more direct: I want an opportunity to apply myself to the RP of a synthetic and provide the immersion I’ve received from synthetics to others with my own.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

I think it would be an injustice for me to say only one interaction with a synthetic, as it’s more of a vibe I have from every synthetic I’ve had the pleasure to interact with.
I absolutely cannot overstate it enough, every synthetic I’ve met has been very well-composed in RP and lended themselves in an amazing manner to the immersion that CM can provide.
The synthetics I’ve met have felt very grounded in the world, likely due to the way they are so reactive to the world around them and so well-made as characters, full of depth and surprising personality for a synthetic. Each really feels like a wealth of personality in a living world, as though they certainly belong where they are and hold a story all their own. It’s also, likely, partly due to my soft spot for AI and non-organic people!

However, my most recent interaction I sincerely enjoyed was being able to play Amelia during the cross-WL event on 01/07/2025! From about 10:30 to 20:30 EST I had a great few rounds, each marked with the company of another synthetic. In a round on LV-624, I got to share a variety of duties with Desmond, Elliot, and Marco! I formed the bridge between Elliot and Marco, where the former was very immersed in medical work close to the front and the latter was solely shipside, I found myself resupplying the FOB surgeon, securing and aiding marines, and escorting the nuke groundside! At the end, I was introduced to a synthetic tradition of trying to get a group photo with all the other synths, and I’ve since saved that group photo.

Synthetic Character Story:

Please enjoy!

Skills:

Engineering:

It’s most of my experience! I’m an engineering main from every single SS13 server I’ve ever played, I have a combined total of probably 4,500 hours in SS13 over all and over two thirds of that time has been spent engineering. My CM experience is likely best shown by 251.2 hours of FTL as almost exclusively Bravo, plus 94.8 of ComTech as almost exclusively Bravo.

Command:

Very! In every server I’ve ever played, I’ve played at least 100 hours of command. No less, I’m a whitelisted CO with 204.6hrs of CO, 87.0hrs of XO, and 53.9hrs of SO.

Medical:

Quite a lot! With all of my command staff I play with medical equipment on me, I’ve got 43.0hrs as Doctor, and my Corpsman hours are at 151.7!

Requisitions:

A good deal! Not counting my interactions with req as command staff and facilitating the logistics, I’ve got 47.9 hours of Cargo Technician and 73.4 hours of Quartermaster.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

In almost strictly self-defense! Synthetics have strong self-preservation clauses that generally force them to retreat if at all possible. Survival is favored to target neutralization. There is, of course, the rare exception where their back is to a wall, such as Delta Alert on the Almayer. In this instance, synthetics CAN have slightly relaxed rules of engagement, but not in a reckless manner.

A runner engages you as you save a wounded marine en route to the (defended) Comms? You can fight it off as you move.
A CLF guerilla begins to engage you as you rally with the marines at pumps? You CAN beat them (but it’s probably unwise).
A marine begins to shoot another marine? This is “combat,” but it must be a non-lethal neutralization. E.G. a flash and wirecuffs.

Final Info:

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason? Do you have any active jobbans?

Not at all!

Are you currently banned from our Discord?

Never once!

Let us know why you were discord banned.

N/A

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?

I’ve been wanting to make Amelia, specifically, for two years now, and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity! Thank you so much for your time and attention.

I didn’t even read anything +1

Lena, now Eve, has always been one of the coolest to be around in-game. There’s quite literally nothing I can think of that they have issues with.

They were on the grind for synthetic too for months playing different support roles while I kept harassing them to get the story done.

Overall great player, they’ll do the robot WL good.

Minty always makes things feel “fresh”, HAHAHA

anyways, great player, great person, and I happily die for them when they go as CO

take a wild guess on what my things gonna be…

ready…

The biggest +1 I can give. Eve has gotten me interested in applying for WL’s, has always given delightful RP, never looses their cool (unless Jone’s goes MIA), and overall, I have exactly nothing bad to say about them. I think they would be a wonderful addition to the whitelist

One of the best roleplayers on the server, mechanically competent, and a great person to talk to OOC. Eve really can do it all and more. I’d give a plus two if I could, and I can’t wait to stand side by side with Amelia on the field.

Very great at role playing and genuinely cares about how they affect other people’s roleplay experiences +1

Thanks for taking the time to make an application.

Your character is pretty interesting, seems well thought out and like you could portray them well.

Mechanically I don’t really have any concerns either, I’ve seen you play every job relevant to the whitelist and not really have any issues.

in terms of mindset & behavior I don’t ever see you starting fights nor have I seen/could I find any issues with you playing as CO.

Taking from ICA’s book, I’ve got some questions/scenarios for you, there’s no right answer here. (thank you StanAlbatross for these.)

  1. You get lunged by a warrior, slashed a few times, then flung back into the marine lines. A PFC helps you up, says “that looked bad, must have hurt. Need me to help patch you up?” How do you respond?

  2. You join late into the round and find in front of you what might be the shittest fob known to man. Honestly it’s a miracle it’s not swarming with 5 lurkers trying to get shipside. Frontline’s pretty far away so you know you have time to fix it up, what do you say to the engineers and marines there who think that it’s a robust fine defence?

  3. You join late, start gearing up, pushy command staff and marines start demanding you explain why you’re not groundside, what’s your answer?

  4. You’re chatting with a marine on the DS before launch, and he asks you to tell him something about yourself, how do you respond?

  5. You’re alone walking to the front line, a lurker comes out of invis and shouts at you “Come to hive, Queen wants to talk, OR WE KILL YOU”, how do you react?

In addition, I’d love a couple more combat examples with xenos, since that’s by far the more common interaction.

This application was a long time coming, from what I’ve seen.

Though my interactions with Rxv995 and her characters have been mostly been limited to the first quarter of this year, shes proven herself to be a friendly, competent roleplayer who has great mechanical skill in that short amount of time.

While I’m not on the council, your story was a good read - A humanitarian mission is an interesting spin on the usual stories.

In short; +1.

Absolutely!

  1. I’d probably prefer to assess if they are capable of assisting me, as this requires welder gear. TECHNICALLY giving them welder blindness probably constitutes as harm and would go against synthetic programming, but if they are provided the equipment to be safe and we are not under threat, I would not refuse.

  2. I can only really insist that the FOB is lacking in defense and try to elucidate them to the vulnerabilities. Should they continue to remain subjectively ignorant, I’m not going to get through to them and bickering would get us nowhere. It’d probably be time to start working on expansions and revisions to the FOB myself.

  3. The truth. I was just turned online by ARES. I wouldn’t say this part, but they can wait.

  4. The go-to trivia would have to be about how Amelia is designed after the real woman in history, but I’m also incentivized to ask if they mean trivia about Earhart herself! Otherwise, I’m probably going to make up a year and describe that Amelia models have been around for a surprisingly long time, thanks to their utilitarian design.

  5. Personally? With (feigned as the player) ignorance, but an attempt to learn. Amelia does not come pre-packaged with xeno language understanding models, she would have to learn on the fly. Even after learning, though, Amelia cannot comply as this would jeopardize the self-preservation clause.

Examples of more combat, why not!
A. You are on comms and a Burrower is harassing you solo, unburrowing, tremoring, slashing, burrowing, looping this forever. Frankly, this can go either way, but if you are alone it is more clear that you should retreat and get assistance.
B. You’re the driver for the colony vehicle and your wheels are taken out by a massive group of xenos? Disembarking and retreat is the single most viable long-term solution to your self-preservation! Of course, within reason, and not like… into the cluster OB outside.
C. The frontline gets suddenly FLATTENED by a xeno flank and you’re one of a very few left forced to retreat? Fortunately, if you’re playing right, you’re probably JUST behind the frontline, so you should have a lead on your escape. A massive group is rapidly approaching and you’re saving a marine on the way. If the marine is slowing you down or lost from your grasp, you can and should abandon them. Engagement should be STRICTLY as a defensive measure, do not pursue. If you would pursue instead of prioritizing retreat, you’re probably gonna get into more combat, violating the self-preservation clause!
D, and this time as a FORECON Synth! : You are at LZ1 north and your survivor fellows get cocky, running past engineering northeast and engaging xenos around A-Block. Why? I don’t know. You SHOULD stay with your group to further guarantee your safety, BUT you should not even begin to engage. Your priority is securing wounded and remaining within defenses that guarantee your safety. Note, this instance is separate from survivor synths, as FORECON Synth is still a member of the USCM.
On that note, the survivor synth combat example, E : You’re a synthvivor on LV-624 and are going to the power dome with your friends to start defending it. If a singular xeno, a runner, slips in and tackles one of your friends, dragging them away from your defenses, you ARE enabled to secure your friend AND neutralize the threat, even if you must chase an amount, but not to the point of clearly jeopardizing your self-preservation. You’re not a juggernaut, but you CAN prevent more damage in the future.

Don’t really know you, but I know Eve is a good team-player.

My thoughts:

I wouldn’t really expect you to double check everyone who comes by to see if they have protection but it doesn’t hurt.

A synth bickering doesn’t make sense, yeah, it’s out of character, you are either correct or you are missing information on the scenario, and arguing changes neither.

pretty much

I’d be interested in seeing how you can express the character beyond their inspiration by a real world figure.

Good. survsynths are allowed a somewhat improved understanding of xeno language at the start of the round but it still shouldnt be perfect.

I’m not going to hold a synth at fault for following a xeno to meet the queen if they’re genuinely projecting an interest to roleplay only to betray it and frag you, but in this case the xenos are giving you “hints” that they just want to get rid of you.

These are all fine more or less. the FORECON synth is on delta alert and so has the same combat restrictions as a normal survsynth. Survsynths have a pretty wide latitude to engage targets to stay alive, which your answers imply you would not abuse to go for kill counts.

Haven’t interacted terribly often with RX’s characters, but from what I’ve seen of them as CO they’ve consistently maintained a solid record of believable roleplay while being generally competent in CIC.

I think they’d be able to roleplay as a synthetic without any issues, and it’s pretty clear they’re well-prepared for this app, so I don’t see why I wouldn’t give a thumbs up.

Excellent roleplay, consistently believable characters, mechanical competence rivalling the best, and above all else, invested in creating a fun experience for other players.

From the bottom of my heart, a firm +1!

Lena is an OG. I remember her being incredibly nice to me when I first starting playing three years ago. Has always been a fantastic person with great knowledge. It would be a crime to not WL the Swan.

One of the few people who maintain a roleplay standard on lowpop. Dear lord, would it be so much worse without you

Your answers may not be by-the-book scripture levels of correct but I’ve never ever seen you get into trouble and you just seem incredibly chill as every other role and CO, so I’m positive you’d do fine as synth and whatever small mistake you would make you could fix very quickly

Eve bean is as HRP as you could possibly wish for in a RP server. She is adored by the community, you can’t even walk into a room without someone being genuinely happy to see her. Loved and known for her fantastic roleplay, she is an exemplary candidate for the synth team.

Definite +1 from me
