Description of the incident:
To come out the gate instantly and say this, Overlord did nothing wrong and did his job correctly with the facts presented. I wish no action at all to be taken against overlord or rocket2guns for making the report, as the whole thing was a huge misunderstanding on my part. I just wanted to make this as I never got to state my side due to the speed the report was accepted on.
##The Misunderstanding:
To leave it extremely simple, I thought Kolton Murphy and me were friends. I also thought they were Keaton Howard, a very good friend and CO (sorry forgot to mention that), as we’ve had various previous interactions that would all be considered “friendly” and I greet him every time he wakes up. While he was afk at briefing I removed his whistle and helmet, and put a beret on him. As seen by the chat logs, I was playing a “practical” prank with absolutely 0 malice intended. You can also see in Kolton own evidence, I thought we were messing around as he instantly started punching me once I stated I was dressing him as a MP. Once I saw the PR apologized nearly immediately over DMs to Rocket2guns about calling him “Lame” and for making him upset without even knowing I did.
##The confused part:
I’m confused why I was accused of undressing people and saying they had “nice legs”. At no point did I ever do that, and even seen in Koltons own chat logs, I scream “WHAT” when someone reports it to me. I never un dressed anyone or made comments on their bodies
I’m confused what ill-meta Rocket2guns is referring to, as I have never been anything but friendly to them, and so has he with me. I have never had ill-faith towards anyone while playing MP. Anyone who has seen me play, staff, and MP players, can all attest while I’m silly, toe the deployment guidelines, I play with the spirit of the law, and other players round as my top priority, doing everything possible to prevent ruining it as a MP.
A job ban seems extremely excessive for what could be considered an IC issue, and while Rocket2guns has every right, it seems they were pushing in bad faith to have me slapped with every rule (which was a surprise to me). They reported me to the XO, Admins, and made a PR after, so it was a big surprise to me. I’m unsure if they took my actions as a direct attack on them, but I just wanted to say in no way what’s so ever was this even an attack.
##Breaking Roleplay Guidelines:
My CMP has always been extremely laid back, and will usually mess around with marines (who are known to him like Howard) in light hearted manners like this. I’m confused how stealing a beret, returning it, and explaining it was a prank, goes against roleplay regulations. No, military police in real life do not interact like robots, they’re usually overworked people looking for a reason to smile. I was trying to give Kolton Murphy a reason to smile by placing a beret on him.
My first priority has always been to make other players smile, and have a positive round as CMP.
Conclusion:
While I don’t agree with the job ban, over removing someone’s helmet and gave it back, I am more than happy to sit it out, as it can be seen as breaking rule 11 as a MP.
Rule 2, as from my understanding as Overlords ruling, may have been mistaken applied. It was stated I stripped multiple marines of their gear to play dress up. Kolton Murphys helmet and whistle was the only thing I removed as he was AFK while waiting for briefing to start. Again I never undressed anyone and stated they had “nice legs”, and I’m not sure why I’m being accused of that at all.
I will avoid doing any jokes, or practical pranks, as the CMP in the future, as clearly it caused someone to have a bad round, which is absolutely not my intention. I only did these to give marines a breath of fresh air when interacting with Military Police members, as most interactions are negative (as seen by recent PRs).
Again I personally apologize to Rocket2Guns as it was never my intention to give them a bad round, I was attempting to give them a quick laugh.
I really enjoy playing MP as Command and Marine groundside gameplay have grown extremely stale for me, I understand I messed up but it was an honest mistake, it’s my first job ban ever, and I’m humbly requesting some leniency be given as I had zero malice intentions that round. The whole situation was just a huge misunderstanding. I don’t have the time or energy anymore to really care about meta grudges in a 2d space game. I’m also asking the “concerns” of my recent actions be shared with me, as my aim is to be a better player now, and hearing these concerns can help me avoid any future incidents like this. I don’t want to be a problematic player, and I’m tired of being labeled one. I want to avoid it at all cost and just play the game.
