SEA Virtual reality headset

It would work like on TG and Goonstation, but SEA can do whatever is necessary to teach a marine, like summon items, guns, and healing equipment. Spawn enemies in like xenos or CLF, and maybe turn into one. I feel like this would make teaching privates very easy and straightforward. The SEA would spawn with the “Admin” headset and could vend the normal ones at his vendor. The teaching area would be a lot like the thunderdome, but without the viewing area and the “cages” that are on the left and right. SEA could also spawn metal/xeno walls in.

Ngl, if a mentor was on the staff team, this could be done.

As soon as virtual xeno gets near, headset should tell the private to run away. xeno scary :sob:

yeah… there’s no staff on the mentor team… Anyway, what you’re suggesting is already in the game.

I am aware of the tutorials. If more tutorials keep being added, then I guess that’s fair, but there’s a lot of stuff in CM and I doubt coders will make THAT MANY tutorials.

I’m not sure what you mean by “no staff on the mentor team” but i assume you mean admins can be mentors and spawn things. From what I know, there are way more non-staff mentors than staff mentors. This addition would give the non-staff mentors the ability to show things to new players that could teach them a lot. Like, for instance, a moving target they have to shoot, instead of just a stationary target in the shooting range.

Just ask around you? It’s not like you’re the only player and the rest are npc. Suck as req? Ask fellow CT, or RO or ASO. Suck as medic? Join as nurse and have a learning course.

Honestly I like them more the way they are currently where they basically just send new players thru a mini basic with a tour

cough Hippie cough

I mean, having it an ingame tool wouldnt really work thematicly. Suddently just having super hightec VR system in the space 70s on the most budget cut and run down ship of the marine corp.

Something like Valhala on TGMC would honestly be much better for that. Just some place for people to fuck around with weapons and abilitys and stuff like that. Chat a bit while they do it.

But i rather see more tutorials then any of that schmu. Problem just is, the expert on certain jobs that would know what to put in a tutorial, usually arent also coders.

Also yeah a thunderdome that anyone can enter when they are dead is a good idea.

Thats A: broken. So very much not expensive equipment like a high tec simulator would be.
And B: Thats closer to a virtual boy then a Quest. Being that its literally that level of tec Alien has.
The main data storage are magnet bands and Floppy disks. They are 70s in space.

There are better ways to implement tutorials then by this.
An ingame simulator would break game flow, wouldnt fit the lore, and likly be hell to code.
We already got tutorials seperated. They work much better for this.
No need to reinvent the wheel.
